Welcome to Librarium Online!
Me and my friends are going to have a small tournament. We are all kinda new to warhammer and are doing this so everyone can learn..
anyway, I've read some what you think about other armies and taken it into consideration and then built myself a new army list that I think will work. What do you think.
book of arkhan 125
Necromancer (in Black knight army)
Nightmare w barding 112
Blood Dragon Vampire Thrall ( in skeleton army)
Heavy armour 129
Standard + Champion 210
5 Dire Wolves 50
5 Dire Wolves 50
5 Fell Bats 100
8 Black Knights
Standard + Musician
Total 1000 pts
What do you think?
In my recent few games I have always used a battle standard with the 3dice -lowest on fear banner. and no banners on my units (too many victory points if they die). found it quite efficient. but as I said, I'm quite new to warhammer. What do you think about battle standards.
8 Black Knights ar a bit hefty in a 1000pts army. Make it 5 or 6 BKs and put in a unit of Ghouls or something. That will give you domething that will have a chance of surviving any War Machines without being shot to hell first.
I always have banner on my units cause they are always VERY difficult to fully destroy. 20+ models or Black Knights. You have the same basic config as my Lahmians come to think of it...
I like your army.
When life gives you lemons, shut up and eat your damn lemons.
I think you could improve the list to make a strong army stronger.Originally Posted by barbqer
First, I'd drop the second necromancer off the mount. Necromancers are always weak in combat. If I do expect one to be in a combat situation, I provide him a talisman, but nine times out of ten, I never let see combat. And if you put yours in a unit of wight guards, he's a sure target.
Complicating matters is that the black knight unit has no champion. What if your opponent issues a challenge? Either the necromancer accepts it and promptly dies, or he retreats to a rear rank, if there is one, where he's effectively out of the game.
Is there a specific reason you're using five fell bats? If so, then keep them. Otherwise, consider using just three. With two wounds each, they're essentially a far-flying batswarm. They'll tie up any war machine crews or magic users just fine, and three will be more maneuverable.
Like kmm said, the black knight unit can be smaller and achieve the same thing. They should only be flanking, or at least only frontally assaulting small, easy targets.
Also, his advice about the ghouls is good. If you go with fewer bats and knights, you've freed up over 100 points. Ghouls are cheap and effective. Spirit hosts are costlier, but even better screeners and flankers than ghouls.
I think it's cool that you're using that banner. Not many people take it.
Cheers, and hope that helped.
As per usual DavidVC04 has come up with the perfect solution.
I would suggest the following modifications:
1) Drop the necromancer off of his mount
2) Drop 3 Black Knights
3) Drop 2 Fell Bats
4) Add a Cloak of Mists and shadows with the necromancer who has come off of his nightmare, and make him the general.
5) With the remaining points add a unit of 15 zombies, (no standard and no musician).
I hope this helps

Thanks a bunch..
I would like to use the spirit hosts in there but they are far to expensive. 200 pts for a unit of 3.
Gouls are probably the only thing I don't have. What's good with them? Would It be wise to buy 2-3 blisters?
I usually run 6 to 9 ghouls. Occasionally, in bigger games, I use two units of six. But smaller units are more likely to panic.
Spirit hosts are worth it, but they get hard to include if you want black knights and/or grave guard. But they're always reliable and always effective.
