    Champions in Units. Worth it?

Is it not worth upgrading to champions at all? And just get another normal one? Same amount of attacks, + 1 more wound?

Really depends. I generally take them in my skellies so can can intercept challenges which my heros are too chicken to accepts. I also take them in grave guard and black knight units as the extra attack can often do something useful. Not to mention if the front rank gets crumped you still get a chance to strike back which if nothing else might make you feel better about the situation...
Everyone makes mistakes. mine was to leave her head in the fridge.

    I'm in favour.
Especially when playing Lahmia. Whenever I do get challanged her bodyguard jumps in. So she can do what she excels in. Beating up rank and file.

undead champions are worth only for challenges...nothing else.
they have too little combat capability to do anything! but accepting challenges alone is worth their cost.

    bye!

I take a full command in my Wight units and my Hell knight used his 2 attacks in a challenge against a Dark Elf Highborn riding a Black dragon to killing blow the Highborn.

If a Necromancer is hiding in a unit without a champion, then he's fair game to be challenged himself, or retreat to the back.

I agree with champions to soak challenges, but how do you protect a character from taking hits from whatever unit pops up? I had a unit of dryads charge up, snipe my necro general, lose combat and flee. Was forced to scoop after 35 wounds from the resulting ld tests. Any kind of protection against this?

So would most of you say that it's not worth taking a Champ in a Skeleton unit that has a Blood Dragon attached to it, since the BD is going to hog all the challenges, any way?

Correct. A BD must always declare and accept challenges.
