Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ive decided to start a VC army and i started off by buying and building a skeleton regiment one day and paint some of them the next, but I needed some ideas on how to paint them. I was just wondering what paint schemes you guys used and in what order you applied the different paints, and whether you drybrushed or painted it and so on. This would be a great help in giving me ideas for my new army.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.
Black undercoat followed by another coat of brown(think its called bestail brown).
Then I drybrush layers of bleached bone till I feel happy with the result and finally highlight with skull white.
There are actually several good ideas how to paint skeletons in the army book, basic to more advanced technices.

Yes I agree... Although you should try to make it feel unified. Try to apply a color on the shields or other decorations, and stick with it throughout the entire army.
Hope it helps

For skeletons, I started with black undercoat, the bleached bone heavy drybrush, then 50/50 mix of black ink and flesh wash (watered down), followed by another drybrush of bleached bone. I quite liked the look achieved.
My skeletons where done a little like Strewarts. I did a black undercoat, heavy white drybrush, wash with watered down brown/earth and then a drybrush of bleached bone. Gave the skeletons a dirty finish that I quite like. As for colorscheme, I'm doing the banners in the same reddish purple as I use on my vampires, and I intend to use on my knights. Other than that I just do the bases the same way, and hopes it will look like a unified horde of shambling corpses. Pretty happy with the result so far, seeing as it's my first army. I am doing a little more planning for my Dark elves, but the again it will be a while before I will be playing them, as I plan to start them up seriously when the new armybook comes out.
what i always like with skellies is deciding "where" they're from: by buying an empire or bretonnian box you can make them more regional if you mix the live bitz with the undead bitz
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
