Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys i'm thinking of starting a vampire counts army when the new army book comes out and i was wondering what everyone thought of the Strigoi vampires.
I personally don't like the current miniatures, but...
Whatever we think of the current Vampires may well be irrelevant. There are many rumours circulating regarding the re-release, and one of the ones that seems fairly consistent is the rigid bloodlines are going to be removed.
Instead, there will be a pool of Bloodline powers from which you can pick and choose in order to make a custom vampire. Hopefully it will be possible under the new rules to create Vampires that are similar (or perhaps identical, if you so desire) to the current bloodlines. But at the moment things are a bit too up in the air to be sure of anything.
In terms of Strigoi vampires at the moment... I believe they're very good at killing stuff.
Wow. What a revelation! I think someone else is going to have to tell you about the current crop of Strigoi Vampires, as I've never really used them.
But you may well find that, come the release of the new Vampire Counts book, Strigoi Vampires only truly exist in the fluff. But of course, that just means you can build your own.
Hmmm. I think I need to learn to be more concise... Hope I've helped a bit.
I agree with you about the model but personally most of the current vampire models aren't great but yer i still would like more advice although i never knew about the new bloodlines being like that cheers.
Well Iv never never actualy played with a against these guys but from ive heard their particular forte seems to be mass murdering rank and file troops. They dont wear amrour, and they cant carry magic weapons, however their bloodlines make them nasty as it can give a really high base number of attacks, toughness and strenth with other odd bits such as being able to fly. They also are a tad more effective at magic than Blood dragons so if u dont mind the fact that they dont wear armour you have a damn powerful character. Basicaly. Its just there limitations on not being able to magic item and such that holds them back the uber vamp of vamps.
Take what i say with a shipment of sault though. As im going purly off the hype iv heard, I hav no actual experience with them. Hope that helps a tad though.
I have used a Strigoi lord with massive monstrosity, iron sinews, and infinite hatred for some time. Rerolling six strength six hits is pretty damned good. Rank and file or an enemy character, I'll attack either with him. With five wounds, a ward save, and Invocation if needed, he's a tough beast to kill.
I prefer these over Blood Dragons.
I agree with David...strigoi have the killing power of BDs without buying expensive equipment. The downside is that strigoi vampires are all focused on their own. No items to do nothing...so imo they are combat-effective and economic, but nothing else.
It's better, it's shiny, it's warped...it's Chaos.
I prefer Curse of the Revenant over massive monstrosity
*runs and takes cover*
But yeah, Strigoi are my 2nd bloodline, and i say i enjoy the change of pace from necrarchs. I play a very fast mobile army, and it works But everyone else generally hit it on the head. go strigoi!
I also enjoy curse of the revanent. The loss of infinate hatred is a setback, but I usualy toss in a summon ghouls as well. This power has done wonders for me, setting off fanatics turn 1, charging warmachines or lone mages, or most commonly just march blocking.
Thanks guys i'm not worried about the no armour aspect (I play woodelves) but this has helped alot im set on them for now(until the new army book comes out), and i think i'll use necrarchs as a second bloodline because i think it would be nice to have alot of magic power.
