Well, here it is folks. If you absolutely want to have the best charge in the game, then accept no substitutes to this monster combo:
Vampire Lord: 455pts
Lvl 3 mage
Beguile, Dread Knight and Red fury powers
Dread Lance, Accursed armour and Black Periapt
BSB Vampire: 300pts
Dreadknight and Infinite Hatred
10 Blood Knights: 675pts
Flag of the Blood Keep
That is 1430pts of pure pain.
Of course, as the unit is frenzied you would have to screen it, and you would need a 4-6K army to even attempt to use it, but dear god it would be fun.
The lord on his own should kill 7-8 men on the charge, then the vamp will have 3 more probably, and then the Blood knights should mop up the rest
I know this would never be used, but it is great fun, and almost immune to shooting damage, making it a really perfect high spend.
Let me know

The new ulitmate unit, what was the previous one?
Still, i haven't seen the new armybook but if anything, it's real expensive!
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
Probably about as 'killy' a unit as exists under the current rules. The massive US means it shouldnt have trouble vs anything bar stubborn and immune to fear units.
It might even work in some 2k sized games as shooting it to death isn't an option, how ever the frenzy, and lack of support should mean any decent opponent can find a flank and then it's crumbling time.
most stubborn units are not immune to psychology, so outnumber and fear still affect them as normal if you win combat. In other words, they have to run unless they roll snakeeyes.
Not to be upetty for a newb but...
"and lack of support should mean any decent opponent can find a flank and then it's crumbling time."
hmm.. i think i desgree, A) the blood knights are so damn hard, i recon 31, (at best.. but still even if you only get 7 in thats 19 attacks) strength 7 attacks will be able to punch a hole in any unit. if it comes down to it, you can gain 2 combat res easly (Overkill from the champions challenge.. unless you get bad rolls, and a banner) i don't recon they will easly be defeated on combat res.. not with the number attacks and the strength.. and C) if the general is killed it doesn't really bother the blood knights, the rule book states
"models with the vampire rule and characters never suffer wounds because of a destroyed genenral" (pg 33, under "the general").
I recon that combo with some black coaches to back it up..
As theres only the 12 of them, it wouldn't take all that much to wipe them from the face of the gametable, not to mention that any attempts to res them would be countered easily, as, with all these points consumed, you're not going to have the points for any more magical backup, not without literally making this the only thing in your army other than two units of 10 core.
In a 5k army this unit would be quite a laugh though! I could only really see myself taking blood knights at all in a 3000 point army simply as they will really need the support.
aut viam inveniam aut faciam / I'll either find a way or make one.
Remove the charge and Blood Knights are still pretty good, get a flank and it's game over. You'll be thrashed for CR, and won't be able to get the characters into combat. Being frenzied means you'd have to play very carefully to try and avoid this.
Swap beguile for walking death and you already have +3 combat resolution without swinging add a challenge and even from the flank your odds are still decent.
