Only in big battles.
I am curious who will be taking Blood Knights now that they are available?
Personally I find them over priced and with Frenzy they can be a liability.
Absolutely not. The models are rediculously overpriced (money-wise) and don't really look too impressive, plus for their huge point cost they are only single wound knights so will die easily to shooting or magic. Sure if they reach combat they will hit hard, but chances are most people will target them early. Or just lead them around taking advantage of their frenzy.
I will be taking them; I like the models a lot, and that's more important to me since we play mostly friendly games . Ofcourse, I will only be fielding them in 2K+ games.
they're khorne chosen knights basically. so not bad for the points. i'd use 5 in a 3000 point game, lol. 3000 count as a big game? 2000 points wouldn't consider them
With the lack of a 1+ save and I5, the vampire knights aren't as resilient as their Chaos equivalents or as likely to be going first in an Initiative round). Certainly, in terms of killing power they're the same (or better on the charge), but for a model that is more expensive than a CKoK, you actually get something that's easier to kill.
I my opinion, I'd be tempted to play to VC's normal strengths - hardcore combat characters backed up by ranked infantry units for combat res and fear. A unit of these boys on top of the large amount VC already tend to spend on characters is going to leave the army very small and over-reliant on magic.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
chosen knights of khorne would be 1 point cheaper per model if there was only 5 of them. or 10 points cheaper per model if there was 6 of them. lol
They are too "all your eggs in one basket" for my playing style. I can really see them winning whole games bythemselves sometimes, but I can also see them losing whole games by themselves. With the price of them in cash and points, I would rather a vargulf with a couple wolf packs to use as flankers/line disruption.
Im thinking of having a VC army just for the blood nights haha not really they are awsome models though looks definatly and use in games. well thats my opinion anyway.
I like the models but they are so expensive. Still, I'll proxy some in for a few games and see what I think. They'd be fun to build on occasion, and if I go nuts like I did for Wood Elves, I know I'll end up owning every model, especially since most of my original VC went on eBay a few months back.
I definitely won't be taking any Blood Knights. Cool models, but way too expensive and way too easily countered to be worth it.
I wish GW had put the modelling time/effort into new plastic Black Knights instead of these new Blood Knights. With as good and as unified as the rest of the new plastics look, it's a shame the Black Knights are still such laughably bad models.
Oh well, maybe I can shoehorn some Grave Guard onto some skeletal steeds...
