    Second Vampire Lord at 3000

    I'll probably run Mannfred as my General, since he's too good to not use him... however, I've worked up a second lord choice. Comments and suggestions welcome!

    Lord
    Extra Magic Level
    Hell Steed
    Master of the Black Arts
    Infinite Hatred
    Walking Death
    Balefire Spike
    Walach's Bloody Hauberk
    Enchanted Shield
    Sceptre de Noirot

    Yes, he's expensive and completely over the top, but he's a one man wrecking crew. He flys, rerolls S7 flaming attacks on the charge, armor save 1+, ward save 5+, +1 to CR and can summon his own flanking unit of zombies.

    I also considered mounting him on an Zombie Dragon...

    To be honest, at 3000 points and with Mannfred in your army, you can have fun with another Lord in whatever configuration. I'd say that this choice should depend on what your hero configs are. If you've got a lot of magic support for Mannfred, then go for something along the lines of:

    Vampire Lord - 445 pts.
    Extra Magic Level
    Hunter in the Dark
    Infinite Hatred
    Red Fury
    Armour of Night
    Sceptre De Noirot
    Talisman of Lycni
    Sword of Might
    Enchanted Shield

    He's got a 2+ Armour Save in CC, enemy are at -3 to hit him from shooting, he generates three power dice which is ample to cast raise dead with the Sceptre, he scouts, he moves 9" per turn, and to top it all off he has up to 8 S6 attacks which are re-rolls to hit every round of every combat

    In fact, I think I might use this myself...

    For a second lord with Mannfred I'd go for a Vampire lord with:
    -zombie dragon/abysmal terror
    -red fury
    -aura of dark majesty
    -dreadlance
    -wristband of black gold

    I dont have my rulebook with me but from memory that comes to either 675pts or 535pts and if ignored will cause severe problems to the enemy. If you wanted you could always add a magic level though I don't feel thats necessary.

    He's also illegal. You're only allowed one of each 'type' of magic item (BRB p120) and he has 2 pieces of magic armour (Enchanted shield and Walach's)

    I'm doing the 'Ard Boyz soon, and I'm pretty dead set on my main Lord to be a spellcasting machine of death. Second lord I'm having difficulty with, though I've been toying with a tooled up chariot/war machine/small unit hunter.

    Vampire Lord:
    -Spectral Form
    -Flying Horror
    -Avatar of Death (GW)

    This was the first that stuck out, flying vampire who can't be targeted by anything but magic stuff, and has 4 WS7 ST7 attacks. Only problem I see is if the enemy has magic missles or a character hunter he could die very easily.

    Second version of him

    Vampire Lord:
    -Flying Horror
    -Avatar of Death (GW)
    -Armour of Night
    -Wristbands of Black Gold

    As far as I can tell this one is legal, and has more defense while on his own. An initial -2 to shoot him, and if a shot does get through he has a 3+ ward against any missle attack. With flying he can pick his charges and still has the power to own chariots and the like.

    I like this type of lord, and it's not that big of a loss if it dies. I plan to face a TK force with a bunch of chariots, so this is the main reason why I plan to invest in him. Dwarf gunline is going to be a problem as well, but he can easily go through them with the right set up.

    I kind of like the idea of Forbidden Lore: Fire. He'll have a nice selection of ranged spells to use before he gets into combat and after that, he can use the Flaming Sword of Rhuin for 5 S8 hits on 2+ niceness.
