With the update, vampires can now choose to have a lore sides necromancy. Im tyring to figure what lore would compliment the VC army. Fluffwise Lore of Death comes to mind, shadow also. Im surprised you can take Lore of Light though.
Anyone here have a preferred forbidden lore? Fluff or practical, and what strategies does you use with the lore. Since you know all the spells.

I wish you would have added in the Lord of the Vampires, because I mostly take forbidden lore to make sure I get every spell from that one. I guess besides that Lore of Death is pretty handy.

I voted for fire as when I used it the other day it more than made up for no real shooting in our army, well that and a rod of flaming death and a vampire who got gaze of nagash. Fire is nice as it is purely destructive and with another vampire, a necromancer, and bounds I get what I need from the lore of vampires. Which comes to my other point you haven't put lore of vampires in the list.
I didnt put lore of vampires because you dont need the forebidden lore trait to get those spells
It's still really useful to use to make sure you get all the spells you want/need from Lore of Vampires. Which is the main reason I use it.

I went for Beasts purely for the fun of casting Bear's Anger on a Scouting/Talisman Lord.
(Vampires is still the best though)

Quannum, funkin' out in every way. Since 1987.
I'm having enough trouble choosing armour and items and powers for my vampires! I don't need the complications of having to choose a magic lore as well!
That said, I'm still using Forbidden Lore to give me all the Vampiric spells. So I get everything I want.
But that Fire Vampire sounds interesting. As does Lore of Beasts. Hmm, something to save for a rainy day.
I have to say that I like Fire. On a Vampire Lord, you've got a walking artillery piece.. until right before he gets into a fight and then you break out the Flaming Sword of Rhuin. If you happen to have the Red Fury Vampire Power, you should be able to kill almost anything.

Hey, what about using Lore of Fire on a Scouting Vampire? You suddenly have a walking artillery piece that happens to be nice and close to the target!
That could freak people out a bit...
Death doesn't seem to complement an already-dead army too well. Walking Death and Doom & Darkness are way too difficult to cast to justify their diminished effect on a VC army. Drain Life? I'd rather attempt Wind of Undeath. Steal Soul is still cool, but also quite hard to cast compared to simply healing yourself later. I like Beasts not just for the incredibly hitting power of a vampire lord with bear's anger, but because The Beast Cowers is easy to cast and absolutely devastating to some enemies. I also like metal as it offers some hard hitting power against enemies that alot of VC builds (particularly armies without blood knights) could only defeat through combat res.
