Only in small games
under the new rules does anybody use the black coach? is it worth the points costs, especially when compared to a varghulf?

If it can still negate ranks it worths the extra points compared to vargie. And i say if cause, its a chariot with 4W, but on the unit size it says, 1 black coach RIDDEN by a wraith, if u see the rulebook it states: ridden chariots starting wounds+1 if ridden. So u see my point.
Anyway coach vs vargie: vargie wins not because its 25pts less but because its more versatille and can be used for more things.
I think in 1000 points I would be using a Varghulf and would likely expand to include a unit of Blood Knights over a Black Coach in 2000 points. I'm willing to bet that they could be good if used correctly (as are all chariots) but a Varghulf is more versatile and faster, and Blood Knights would probably be better in a drawn out fight. I think it probably does neutralise ranks, but you would have to determine that at your gaming club.
Has anyone ever thought of just having it accompany a couple of Necromancers to quickly get it the evocations and then go to town on the enemies?
ya i'm probably going to use one in a 3500 pts game and depending if i have first tun or not (if i have 2nd then how many dice it's already brought in) i've have thought about placing it next to a lvl 2 vamp and a necro or maybe even mannfred and go ahead and get all the powers in the first turn. when it's full its pretty badass, a flying ethereal chariot with hatred and killingblow? and if does negate ranks then its even more badass. looking at this i actually think i like it better than the varghulf as its ward save can always be taken while the varghulf's regen can be denied. the only problem is str 7 hits....
Only in armies where I have a large number of PD in few models. Say 3000+
I have one in my ard boyz list, will tell you how it works out!!!!
I used to play sylvania under soc rules love the duel coaches then, like the new rulez better!!!
Maybe in 3000 points, i'm not sure and not because i can have a varghulf instead! although i do like having a varghulf.
I like mine, but sometimes I ill luck on dice rolls, and it doesn't preform like I would hope. Then again, the chance of an ethereal chariot is worth it, in fun games.
I'm Solid Snake...also, I'm a Primarch.
As for using the coach, no intention at this stage. Maybe later, depending on how the army grows, but i'll echo the views that the Vargi is better value as support. I don't really want my power dice disappering anyway....
Thats not to say it won't work - I'm sure an army can be built around this model, easily. I mean, an ethereal flying chariot with MR(3) is going to give anyone headaches.
I think some might just miss the best part of this thing... It´s ability to eat your opponents dice. Also it wont eat alot of your dice either, only eat them on a 6 and if not eaten you can still use them to cast your spells. But lets say it would eat alot of dice at once you now got a big fat evil chariot of doom which is going to need a whole lot of effort to bring down.
It is far far far far more resilient to firepower than than the varghulf. Better toughnes, an armour save and ward as well... only with the most abysmal luck will you lose this to anything but the most dangerous war machines. Of course S7 is going to give it trouble but that is stating the obvious. But thatss what fell bats are for(render the scariest war machines useless).
If I indeed go headon with my VC project this chariot of awesomeness will see alot of time on the battlefield. I seriously dont understand how you cant see the huge potential of this unholy contraption.
I find the options abit... unsatisfying as I would take it both small, normal and big games but not "ALL THE TIME!". As a result I will pick the "all the time" option, anyways.
