would each unsaved wound (and therefore instant slaying) be the death of a multiple wound model (let's say an ogre)
like if my vampire hits 4 times and gets 3 wounds do 3 models die? if so then this with the frostblade would mean an additional 9 attacks thanks to the faq ;?
read bottom fixed
I myself like using Red Fury with Dreadlance.
Dreadlance garentees you to hit with your attacks and and then with red fury for every unsaved wound it gets to make another attack.

CountTheff, maybe you overlooked the Frostblade part of the title?
Yes, according to the FAQ, any unsaved wound on a 3 wound ogre would yield 3 extra attacks with the Frostblade. Not that you would need that many extra attacks if you kill 3 ogres...
yea my bad i completly missed that foolish me hehe
Yea if you are gonna use frostblade against ogres (multi wound model) only 1 would is actually needed to slay the single model.
Or like you said against a unit if you got 3 wounds off killing 3 ogres.

So let me get this straight, you wound 3 times with the Fb, allowing you 9 extra attacks (the Ogres get Instakilled right?). Of those 9 attacks, you hit 6 times, killing 6 more Ogres?
That seems rather powerful- the Vampire can pretty much take on the enitre army on his own;?, unless I'm missing something (I'm not a VC player, and it's really likely that I have misread something).
Yep, with the Frostblade a vampire can wipe out ogre regiments in one go. But it is a lot of points, I mean a LOT, and has no effect against single-wound troops. So we will probably only see it in tailored lists.
Up until I read this thread, I had been completely discounting the FB as useless, overpriced junk, most particularly because it doesn't ignore armor saves. In this case, however, the FB pays for itself with 4 wounds.
Vampire Count w/ Red Fury, Infinite Hatred, Avatar of Death and Frost Blade mounted on HellSteed = a massacred Ogre regiment on every charge. With no, or few rank bonuses, even if a few Ogres survive they're not likely to win combat and inflict crumble wounds on the Vamp. Very nice.
Now I need to break out my Spirit Hosts and Cairn Wraiths and find myself a sucker with an OK Army.
