I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new member to the community, both to warhammer and the Vampire counts. Now that I'm done with the introduction I was wondering if a vampire lord maxed out for melee is practical in a 2k army. I have realized that the VCs are very magic heavy. I may not have played my first game yet but I feel that magic is very important. Thanks for the help.
Are you familiar with the 'Gayzor Mountains'? If you aren't sorry, your pick just reminds me of it.
But yeah, you can definately do a combat lord, but it's almost always beneficial to make him a level 3 wizard, if only for the extra dispel dice. Personally, I'd suggest dread knight, infinite hatred, red fury, walach's bloody hauberk, the hand of dust and +1 magic level.
Welcome to LO, shadowfang89.
If you like killing things, then yes, you can go combat heavy. You'll still want magic support from your other characters. Going magic-light is usually bad news for VC.
Thanks for the help guys.
Usually 3 characters gives plenty of magic if you have a corpse cart in the army as well, so tooling your lord to be combat heavy is fine and you can still easily have enough magic. He is still a wizard even with armour and weapons, so he can still support your magic.
