Welcome to Librarium Online!
hi guys I am a vampire counts player from way back I am just getting back into them problem is I am currently working on 3 other projects I am going to pick up the army book in a fortnight and this is what I already own everything hear is about 2 to 4 years old
the question is can I make I viable army with what I have I wount to go a magic heavy army I live in Australia and have budgeted about $65 if I need to buy new models
how can you guys advice me
this is what I have
2 necromasers on foot
1 vampire on foot
1 vampire mounted
100 skeletons half with spears half with hand weapons
10 black knights
10 dire wolfs
2 Wight lords both of foot one with a banner one with a hand/great weapon
maybe 6 fell bats
You would have to bring in more Ghouls - viable Ghouls units are greater than 10 models in size..and the Banshee is now aunit champion for Cairn Wraiths..
However the rest of your army resembles a lot of what my wife has - she has 10 Ghouls, 8 Black Knights, a multitude of skellies (mostly with hand weapons beacuse of the enhanced save).
She doesn't like Zombies, but has Dire Wolves galore, and in addition, she had Grave Guard, which are a fantastic unit, as they get a 3+ save in close combat (heavy armour, sheild, hand weapon bonus) when equipped with hand weapons (one pip short of Black Knights) but still have the high strength and killing blow...
I'd say priority is getting one more Ghoul to make your Ghouls unit legal (maybe use the Banshee as a female Crypt Ghast for now?), and getting a nice shiny Grave Guard unit. Then follow up with teh Varghulf and possibly a couple of corpse carts, as these foul up enemy magic quite a bit.
The good thing about VC is that large numbers of the units are now plastic, including the Grave Guard

I think the only thing you'd really need at the moment may be a few more Vampires. You have plenty of Skeletons and Zombies to make up your core, and you have some Black Knights in there to give you a bit of punch.
It might not be an ideal list, but I think you'd be fine organising most of what you have into some kind of makeshift army. Maybe one (or two) additional Vampire models and your choice of either Grave Guard, a Varghulf or a Corpse Cart, depending on what you want.
But I think the only thing you really need is one more Vampire. Then you can run a Lord Vampire, your other two Vampires as Heroes and use a Wight as a Standard bearer or something at around 2000 points. It does of course depend what points level you're going to and what kind of army you want to run as to what (if anything) you need to buy.
Ah yes - with the new Vampire rule, it's really worth getting as many of them as possible to allow your army to remain mobile, as otherwise you will find yourself outmanouevred.
Of course both Blood Knights and the Varghulf are "Vampires" so they can certainly help ensure your army can march. As can the Balck Coach. BUt Blood Knights are probably out of your budget range, and the Black Coach is a little wasteful, so the most efficient would be to possibly "Vampirify" a Plastic Empire General model (and get two "vampire" models from the same kit, if you combine with other Undead kits and bits) and get the palstic ghouls box to give yourself a bigger unit.
Then I would go for the Grave Guards as you can get the plastic models...
