im just curious, what would you all do?, grave guard with hand weapons and sheilds, or great weapons. all replies would be valued. also, do you think konrad and a necromancer good for 500pts?
20 skellies with handweapon, sheild and spears with command-200pts
20 zombies with command-92 pts
this gives me the power to ressurect dead dudes, plus the killing power of konrad. my only concern is the opponents dispel dice. i have 3 power dice while he will have 2 dispel dice. whaddya think? thx in advance
hmmm... want to try the maniac's killing power, right?
I think you should consider some support from wolves (5 will be enough) and think about the command from the zombie unit (it's easy 100 points for the enemy!). You could actually go for a second unit of skellies and then just RAISE the zombies!
How about the black talisman (that one which allows you to keep 1 dice)?
Go for Grave Guard with shields and hand weapons, they will have a 3+ save in close combat, and still benefit from getting the oddkilling blow here and there.
I think that primarily you need fast killing power to help outflank units rather than another slow (and very expensive) infantry unit, so Dire Wolves are a great choice.
I also agree with losing the command, Zombies are tar pits and CR boosters for your proper units, NOT supposed to win combats by themselves (because they probably can't).
I wouldn't opt for a necromancer if you are fielding Konrad, and given he's temperamental at best, I would opt for a support Vampire which is slightly more predicatable as general. Then you have two Vampires, allowing more of your army to march.
I like Grave Guard with great weapons for a few reasons. With the helm of commandment nearby, they hit on 3's or 2's with the banner of the barrows. With a corpse cart nearby or Danse cast on them in combat, they strike first with great weapons hitting on 2's. They wound most models on 2's, and they have killing blow. I don't mind the reduced armor save because now IoN can bring back d6 per turn. Be a punk and add the Drakenhoff banner and they're among the top ranked units in the game,
Give tyhe necro the scepter de norit and raise the zombies then use the points saved for some wolves bfor flanking redirecting etc.
thx all 4 their replies, but this army was just supposed to be 500 pts and i cant get either wolves(as they dont count towards minimum core unit) or replacing the zombies for a second unit of skellies(as they are too expensive) within that points bracket. also i gave the zombies the command because it would help with combat res because you never know, i might just win the comabat, outnumber the enemy and send them fleeing.
when my army is larger i will take allthese points into account though. i might also scrap a couple of zombies and get the sceptre de norot for my necky.
