Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, I haven't seen it anywhere though. What of combining the skull stuff and one of the master bloodline powers? You would be healing units with invocation on a 2+, and making new units on a 3+. Add crown of the damned, dark acolyte, master of the black arts and level 3... This guy is producing 6 power dice per turn, plus the 2 base, you can cast invocation a whopping 8 times on a 2+! Have a corpse cart or two with loadstones, and you can make all your core blocks only 10 models depending on whether you want skellies or ghouls for summon ghouls or summon skeletons. You would definitely be able to raise them to a large size in the first turn or two. The lord, 2 corpse carts, and a whopping 5 units of ghouls with ghasts is just over 1000 points, how many have managed to get up to 5 core units in a standard 2k list? And still have butloads of points left for special and rare choices. You could even get rid of dark acolyte for one less PD and take ghoulkin instead, now you have a huge army advancing very fast all units with multiple poison attacks.
How is that for being able to abuse the list easily?
Minimum 3 to cast. all rolls of one or two autofail based on the rule book. So he would still only cast on 3+ not 2+
This is a fairly normal vampire combo as far as I am aware. Adding a vampire with the helm of commandment and a unit of grave guard and you have what I think will be an extremely competetive list, even at high tournament level.
The undeads biggest strength is the ability to recover/generate more troops and this combo maximises the ability to do that. All you have to worry about is the fast and hard hitting armies that can shut down the magic phase, e.g. lizardmen with cube of darkness, or HE with vortex shard.
Arms are an instrument of evil, No measure for thoughtful men until there fail all other choice but sad acceptance of it.
Sun-Tse : The art of war
Hardly overpowered and quite prone to failure.
IoN 8 times means your going to fail some of the rolls and others will be easy to dispel.
If your opponent is running Staff of Sorcery or Balefire Carts your really in trouble.
So an undead list that relies on IoN will fail against anyone with Magic Defence. If you Build your list so that IoN is there to help maintain your numbers then you will be doing good.
More than 1 Loadstone does not increase the amount raised by more than 1.
@apbevan, staff of sorcery or balefire carts are just two of the armies you could face. And pretty much no one has 8 dispel dice. Even with a fail or two, you will get a lot of magic out. I have faced lists where midgame their magic phase is just spamming invocation to regenerate losses, and they raise heaps and heaps. The reason I said multiple loadstones was to spread them out since one cart couldn't cover your whole army anyway since they only have 6" range, I know they don't stack.
