so what do you think, black knights or blood knights? im personally swaying toward blood knights as;
a)they hit harder ALOT HARDER
b)get the march move
c)if a vampire leading the unit has blood drinker he can restore wounds with ease
d)can help other units march
but if any one has any points on black knights i would really like to hear them. i already converted some models for the blood knights, but am not sure whether to use them or not. they are converted dark elf cold one riders(the new ones) with grave guard sheilds, all the spiky bits, hooks and runes filed of, toned down lances and the grave guard banner. their heads are the helmets wih the mail masks so they have a mysterious look to them and their kastellan has no helmet but he looks so vampirey(wtf) almost as if he was lifted of vlad. the fluff behind these guys is that after the vapires abandoned nagash, these fled west over the ocean and settled in the northern reaches of the south continent where the forest of lustria merges into the plains. they tamed the local creatures and today theyre sailing home to kill them somethings that actually have a pulse.
I'm not going to vote because I don't believe one of these units is superior to the other - they both have fairly specialised battlefield roles!
In terms of a line breaking unit the blood knights are virtually unparrelled, they do a stupid amount of damage, have great saves versus most attacks and there is hardly a unit that they will not break through in the game. On the downside they are horribly expensive, and that means that they are limited in number. No static combat res means a flank charge really hurts, and with frenzy it can be hard to avoid being baited out of position.
In terms of beating gunlines and other static forces the black knights are the best unit in the undead book in my opinion. The fact you can have five with barding and the banner that makes them unit strength 20 for less than 200 points is awesome!
My list uses both I must admit but they have very different reasons for being in the list!

those are all good points m8 thx, but surely blood knights could have the banner of the undead legion also?
Yeah, but then you are looking at a unit that is quite expensive - prohibitively so.
As starshowerblade said they are two very specific and very different units and a comparison between them is not going to be accurate.
Sure, Blood Knights can kill practical anything, but taking the means that you have a lot of points tied up in a single unit (often of only 5 models), have to spend a large amount of effort in protecting them, they can be led all over the board with frenzy and still suffer from terrain.
So pro's for black knights?
1) Killing Blow
2) Can move through terrain with no penalty
3) Reliable - no frenzy means they go where you want them to go
4) Cheaper - you can afford to take multiple units of these guys

My vote goes to the Knights of Blood Keep for several reasons.
First the non-gaming reasons are that they fit my army fluff perfectly, and the models look simply fantastic. As a horse owner I prefer normal looking horses to skeletal ones. Now for the tactical reasons to take Blood Knights:
1) They are devastating offensive units, which appeals to me as a very aggressive player.
2) They are well armored, especially when equipped with the banner of blood keep
3) They allow nearby undead units to march (such as dire wolves that are screening them)
4) They can march on their own without being near a character or Varghulf
5) They don't crumble when the general is killed as they are vampires.
I do not wish to detract from Black Knights in any way, as they are still a very effective unit, but if I have the points to splurge, I would always take Blood Knights instead because of their sheer killing power, and for the reasons I listed above of course.
I cant vote on this. For me it matters on the points of the game, and the style of the list.
Vampire Counts-4000 Points
Black Templars-2000 Points
I agree. Blood knights are obviously better unit, hence why they are more points. This however does not make them more practicle than black knights. Black Knights are a good elieght (sorry can't spell) cavalry unit with all the bonuses of terrain. I will always play with black knights, for fun i add blood knights.
For the army I've built, I just can't see Knights of the Blood Keep fitting in. They just don't suit it's style or background.
Also, I'm somewhat scared of Frenzy, and what any opponent I play could do with it. And I don't feel like spending the points or the money to get some models that, while being good at what they do, don't particularly appeal to me.
For me it's Black Knights.
But I do like the idea of Knights of the Blood Keep, and completely understand why others use them!
I like Blood Knights, but I like Black Knights better because they're far cheaper and can move through terrain. Blood Knights are simply too expensive for me to fit in my army with all my characters and my unit of Wraiths.

I actually had this discusion in my head when I was putting together my 2250 list. I really couldn't decide so I just took both lol.
