My main WHFB opponent is going to be playing the new Dark Elves and I was just wondering how other Vampire generals have fared against these twisted elves? What works, what doesn't, what to look out for and what not to worry about?

I have fared pretty well against the new DE, played three won three and have found that if you can keep the army resiliant then you tend to win out against the very squishy T3 elves.
Things to watch out for:
Assassins. Obvious really but keep an eye out for any units of spearmen heading towards your vampire lord, bear in mind they can only appear out of units of infantry so put your vamp lord into cav if you can!
Dark Riders: Really rather troublesome if you are a fan of heavy frnzied cavalry like I am. Good mobility, good shooting capacity, very good baiting unit.
Black Guard: Immune to psychology and stubborn. Pretty tough nut to crack.
Cold one knights/ chariots: Cause fear, s6 on the charge and can have banners for extra attacks and stuff. Good saves, champion often has ring of hotek to make you miscast on any double.
The Hydra: this is a real source of trouble for me. with 5 wounds and regenerate there is no way you can guarentee to kill it on the charge and its got 7 s5 attacks with re-rolls.
Manticores: these can be really troublesome now, as they have s5 attacks with killing blow. try to avoid getting your lord charged by one of these.
The dark elf magic phase is also now pretty scary. Try to keep a dice or two back to stop the "generate power dice" spell, as this is a potential game winning move against undead.
Hope this helps.

Hi I'm a dark elf player and the key to DE success it to kill units on the first round of combat. If your survive that then DE got a real disadvantage. A magic heavy army focusing on raising and making your units ASF is quite devastating against DE. Wagulf (?spelling) and black coach is good as well. but other than that massed skeleton units+ mass raising ftw! Anything that can outmaneuver DE is good so flying units and fast cav. But as the above poster said. DE magic is very offensive to it'd be wise to get rid of them or lock them in combat asap. DE have small units as well so a flank charge is an very effective way to win combat.
My friend play DE too and I don't know that my VC can win him or not cause my lack of experience.
