I am debating on what weapon to equip my vampire lord with, the Blood Drinker, or the Sword of Kings. Is killing blow really all it is hyped up to be? It seems like restoring wounds without casting IoN will be needed much more, but I don't want to run up against some big nasty and not have a ace in the hole for my lord.
So basically what I'm asking is, in your experience, is the sword of kings a solid choice for a vampires weapon?
Instead of creating a new thread I might as well ask this here as well. Which option will be better for keeping my vampire lord fighting, Walach's Bloody Hauberk or the Flayed Hauberk? I really want a good ward save, but Walach's hauberk doesn't give as good of an armor save. I can combine it with a shield though (he will have one anyways cause he has the avatar of death power) which might counterbalance that. Which armour is more effective in your experience?
This is all important to me not only because I am new but also because the color I paint the armor and weapons for my lord will reflect their purpose.

I prefer the Blood Drinker over the Sword of Kings - in fact I only give the sword of kings to a Wight King. The main reason is that yes, killing blow is good - but it's even better on a 5+.
That and the ability to keep regenerating wounds, in addition to IoN and whatever else, is pretty solid for the points paid for it.
So, my answer - Blood Drinker for Vamps, Sword of Kings for Wights.

I would go for Sword Kings on Wight King,
then for the Vampire... it really depends n what you want him for.
a Dread knight with a unit of black or even blood knights, is deadly with blood drinker and then walach's bloody hauberk, as you get a 1+ sdave, 5+ ward and can bring back fallen knights with ease
However if you want your guy to be more of an infantry general, like putting him in skellies, ghouls or grave guard, i would go for flayed hauberk, and then give him sometyhnig like sowrd of might, battle, then give him crown of the damned for a ward... walking death is also good
hope this helps
The Sword of Kings is best for Wight Kings. Enemy Lords will be terrified of your humble undead Hero.
The Blood Drinker is a support weapon... put it on a Vampire Lord with Infinite Hatred and Red Fury and then put that guy in an expensive unit so that you can reraise expensive models. Blood Knights are good for this. I like a regular Vamp with the BD and Infinite Hatred for that, though.
If you just want your Vamp Lord to fight better, go for the Sword of Might.. +1 S is always nice to have and it's really cheap.
If you have a Vamp in a Skellie unit, don't forget about the Tomb Blade!

Ah yes Tomb Blade,
the poor man's Blood Drinker
I think that blood drinker is way more effective for a vampire, and the sword of kings is better in the hands of a wight king. also the tomb blade should be a good weapon for a vampire
