Hey, new to this army section
Ive started reading the army book, fantastic fluff, dont know why ive never read it before.
But anyways, I was thinking of doing an army, but sort of themeing it, i already have daemons so i dont want to make just another cheese list
The story I loved the most was Konrads reign, he's just such a character. Loved all about him so i was thinking of basing an army on him.
From what i recall presently from the army book story on his reign, he led with a blood knights and being magically impaired some-what he had necromancers bringing in the support.
So, I'd like to ask you guys, if any-one has time to possibly help write up a list for at least 2k points and based on him.
What i can think of currently is possibly 4 hero's, this includes Konrad and 3 necromancers. Maybe stick the necromancers on corpsecarts and let the whole army shamble forward.
Of course I'd definelty want to include at least 5 blood knights in this.
Another character set up perhaps would be a Vampire Lord with DreadKnight, to act as the leading BloodKnight, or konrads champion, whichever makes the most sense.
This would be follwed up by konrad himself and maybe 2 necromancers then.
Any tips, advice, set-ups and what-no would be greatly appreciated
Konrad is an interesting one, to be sure. If you're going to use him, you definitely need a vampire lord (and keep Konrad nearby). Can't have Konrad be the general / run around on his own with his potential stupidity at a low leadership.
Other than that, some skeletons / zombies for core, a pair of necro's maybe on carts (or not, really).. add in two blood knight units and you've got the basics of a themed konrad list. Just beware that if you have two units of blood knights, you'll probably get some dirty looks. They're easy for smart opponents to counter, but it doesn't mean people won't complain anyway. :p
I was thinking the same, the vampire lord mayb with the blood knights, but that might get a little harder to ensure theyre in range enough for konrads ld tests :p
Other than that i was thinking two necro's on carts, and maybe another 2 carts just for the bound magic.
This would be follwed up more so with zombies than skellys, and maybe a bunch of bats and hounds.
Been trying to think, would wraiths fit the theme?
There's a White Dwarf edition where Gav Thorpe has written up a Konrad-themed 2k army list. It doesn't look that effective though. I would suggest a reasonably good caster Lord that would lead the blood knights like you have suggested, and two fairly powerful Necromancers. My favourite combination for a Necromancer is Vanhel's, Invocation and 2 Stones. You might not want 2 power stones but they're quite handy. I think you'll need a Book of Arkhan in there and also a unit of Grave Guard. I would suggest a big unit of starting zombies, like 30 or 35. That's just my opinion. I have a Konrad based 2000 point list on my computer somewhere. If you want I'll post it as soon as I find it, which might be a while.
If i remember correctly , and not to be too much of a fluff-stickler , Konrad's sier was Vlad von Carstein , Vashenesh himself! and therefore of the Von Carsteins bloodline , not the bloodline of Abhorash , who was Walachs sier , the vampire who turned the Knights of Blood Keep .
That being said i dont see the KBK as essential to a Konrad themed army , they would be a cool edition to it , but don't feel you NEED to have them.
I'd instead go with the idea of a shambling horde controlled by necromancers , with black knights and graveguard thrown in for the hammer you well definetly be needing (as youl have much less magical ability).
*Sorry for the semi-threadomancy - didn't dawn on me till id posted*
Hey thanks for replies. (Ive been absent and havnt been able to reply in this for a long time so i apoligise if it seems like threadomancy, just didnt want to start a new thread on the same idea)
So I have time once again to think about and build on this idea, as I just bought Konrad today, woohoo.
I think I have defiently settled on the idea of a Vampire Lord who will join the unit of Blood Knights. Along with Konrad will be two Necromancers. I havnt got round to equipping them with gear yet so if anyone could help out with more ideas that would be awesome. Im thinking sticking them on 2 Corpse carts. Maybe with two Balefires just so Im not the only one who is a notch down in the magic phase
I like the idea of starting with a big unit of SKeletons and Zombies. Seems sensible that Konrad would have some help raised at first before the battle.
Was chatting to a mate about this recently and he suggested that as Konrad is very martial orrientated that using Wights would be a great idea and fit well enough with the theme
I'll attempt to draw up an army list soon to get some C&C, in the mean time, if anyone has any other thoughts on the matter, id love to hear them
