In 2k games a friend of mine uses a slann priest inside a unit of temple guards escorted by two stegadons+engine of the gods, the rest of his army consists of small 'insignificant' units,
my question is, how do I score enough victory points against these almost indestructible units? How do I effectively take out the engines of the gods? sure I can take out the priest, but that would mean sacrificing a really expensive unit...
Also it's very hard to get off a decent charge with hvy hitters such as blood knights because small skink units get in the way..
Anyone got any brilliant ideas??

I would normally go right off this kind of thing because it is really quite nasty and cheap.
BUT if someone is putting that army on you KNOWING that you are going to be playing VC then they deserve it.
If you really want to win this, then this is what you should do:
Zombies to pit him down for as long as possible and keep the ig stuff away from your vampires (against the slann unit this will be tricky but the smegadon should be held still for a while.
Then you want as many vampires as you can with Forbiddon Lore taking Shadows.
The biggest spell makes a very nice mess of slann so every turn throw 3 dice at it from your Lord and the Creeping Death missile is great to use against Smegadons because the hits get randomised and anything that will be on the crew or preist will have a decent chance of wounding (on 5s or 6s respectively) due to the number of dice you'll be throwing. Also if you get a chance to throw "Shades of Death" at some zombies some things might just run off.
Other than this Blood Knights will do a good enough job on a stegg but make sure you keep out of its armour avoiding blast thing.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Banshees. You'd be suprised how well they work. Low LD and cold-blooded never becomes a factor.
""What's the matter? Don't ya like clowns? Don't we make ya laugh?" - Captain Spaulding.
Ok you wanna deal with him the funniest thing and probably most effective thing you can do is use cairn wraiths maybe 2 units of 5 with a banshee in each.
Theyve just released details on that stupid stomp engine thingy that it is not magical so now our good friends can just go Nom Nom. But make sure youve got a nice amount of dice and at least 2 scrolls so you can get rid of those light spells he'll be sure to use.
thanks for the replies guys,
Engine is not magical?? Awesome
I guess I could try lore of shadows with 4 caster vampires, though the lizard player has a lot of dispelling power, also I am the world record holder for miscasting...
it was posted on my clubs forum so if you want just pm me and ill tell you which site it is and where to find it.
