Also a question about Inv of Nehek - if you cast it on bats or wolves you only ever get one model/ wound back as its says 'non infantry models are harder to heal and only ever gain one wound' - doesn't this make it pretty poor? Please correct me if I'm wrong!
Also are Fell bats ever really worth it?
Thanks for your help - as my first time on this forum!
First of all-welcome to the forum on behalf of everyoneFell bats are good for killing war machines- you fly them up and charge next turnAlso are Fell bats ever really worth it?
on the lists I like the second one- if you take out the dire wolves then you can get the tomb banshee and summon ghouls
on the invocation question I think they do count as infintary (the wolves do at least - not as sure about the bats) but you'll find it on the FAQ on the GW site
thanks for the welcome, unfortunately i can't get summon ghouls as ethereal is 50 points
will check out FAQ on GW site cheers

GW fails to answer the question about Inv of Nehek...
Very confusing as Dire Wolves have the 'fast cavalry rules' and Fell Bats area flying uint so surely don't count as infantry. Does anyone know if this is correct?
aw well just take 2 ghouls instead and play them 6 wide
I've just been looking back when I discovered this
http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...-question.html (Quick Newb Invocation Question)
hope it answers all your questions
In a small game, I would want to maximise my units as much as possible.
Dark Acolyte, Lord of the Dead, Summon Creatures of the Night are all good, as is sceptre de Noirot.
Then protecting your Vampire comes a second priority - Flayed Hauberk or Cadaverous Cuirass are good choices.
Finally, having "tools for all occassions" - I would certainly not go Wraiths as they are very expensive and make no-brainer targets at 500 points if your oppnent has magic, given they are relatively weak US and have no save. I would opt for Grave Guard or even Varghulf, with its regenerative abilities.

Thanks alot for your help. Looking back at the thread that was linked and how inv of N works when combined with summon creatures of the night I think it would be rude not to attempt a bat summoning based army.
Your advice about the wraiths is noted and very true, one magic missile will probably spell the end for them.
Just to be clear you can still only get 1 wolf, or one wound worth of bat swarm when using Inv of N?
Are the two vamps in 500 points worth trying?
Thanks again for your advice and/ or pity!
In a 500pt battle I found the varghulf quite good. Expensive I know but veru effective. With an armed necromancer and two big units of ghouls. Had a three way battle and won with an extra two units of zombies I had raised. Maybe thats because everyone ran away... The ghouls impressed me in that one. Three remained and they held a unit of 20 spearman until my varghulf attacked. My opponent was impressed too.
In a low point battle I think the varghulf would be very useful. The varghulf cost the same amount of points as 2 wraiths and a banshee but is far more effective. Just having him charge at my oppenent has caused some of them to flee off the board.
in 500 points, if you use wraiths with an ethereal vamp you likely wont make many friends =p
MEAT IS MURDER, And murder tastes pretty good! :D
