Walach's Bloody Hauberk
The Accursed Armour
The Flayed Hauberk
Armour of Night
The Cadaverous Cuirass
Second part of my big poll, which magic armours do you use?
And to clarify, when I ask which ones you use I mean which ones you take most of the time. Don't put in ones you use every now and again, which items do you use in most of your armies.
Poll is multiple choice so put down all the itmes you use.
Hey, do you think it would be possible to add closing dates to your polls in the future? It's early morning and I could be sleeping right now. Cheers. -AFG//

2000AD's answer to all "How do VC deal with ..." questions: Forbidden Lore + 2 Power Stones.
Further answers will require more vodka.
My lord ends up with the WBH for the ward save, but have found giving a basic vamp the Night Shroud, though not very protective means i can risk a challenge against lesser troops or assasins and get to strike first, taking out the threat before it becomes a problem.
The Enchanted Shield is a favourite of my combat Vampires as it pairs so nicely with the Book of Arkhan. The Nightshroud makes for a great combination with the Sword of Kings that my Wight King often uses while the Flayed Hauberk provides good defense for a Lycni Vampire. The Cadaverous Cuirass I've assigned to my general in order to boost her armour save and also provide immunity to poison and killing blow. You can't ever be too sure of the VC general's safety.
I selected the Flayed Hauberk and the Nightshroud because those are the only ones I like. The Flayed Hauberk goes onto my running Vampire (Infinite Hatred, Avatar of Death, Flayed Hauberk, Talisman of Lycni) to give him the best protection. Too many times he's died to Glade Riders taking pot shots. The Nightshroud goes onto my General. His unit has Hatred, and combining Striking first with a Blood Drinker and Hatred he should be fine against most troops. If someone wants to kill him with a character or champion then my champion will declare a challenge.
I really like the idea of the Accursed Armor combined with the Helm of Command, and the Enchanted Shield is just nice and cheap. The Flayed Hauberk makes it easier to use infantry vampires that you did not give Avatar, too.
I would have thought the combination of Nightshroud and Blood Drinker to be an ineffective match.
The vampire only goes into "strikes first mode" if he/she is being targeted, otherwise strikes as normal.
And then if your vamp would have to be in either a unit that is not at starting size, or be in a unit were they have the ability to raise over the starting size (lord of deead = skeletons etc) to be any effect. As i suspect most lords are not sat in ghouls, skeletons and bats/wolves, they will be in either GG or alone when striking first and raising could only posibly bennifit a unit already undersize possibly from being hit by a chariot or not getting raised back in the magic phase.
And if as Bagotrx says he would accept a challenge from hero or unit champions with a unit champion instead of nightshroud vamp then surely it deffeats the point of having such an item.
What may be an idea is combining Cursed Book and Nightshroud. Meaning you strike first, and if your opponent is tries to then hit you they have only WS1.
i almost always take Flayed Hauberk, Nightshroud and Accursed Armour in the same list
Saltrock, I don't use them in combination, I use them separately. The Blood Drinker is there so I don't have to invocate my Grave Guard too much. The Nightshroud is just a precaution in case someone does intend to attack him. My Grave guard have 2 corpse carts on either side, so my Grave guard should be striking first anyway. Now that you point it out it does seem a bit pointless since he shouldn't have anybody attacking him with the champion taking on characters and the corpse carts letting me fight first, but it's all to keep the unit up and running and so that he's safe.
I typically give my general the Flayed Hauberk. It's just to make sure she stays nice and safe. Other vampires get the Enchanted Shield, but I usually don't bother too much with armor. Unless there's a reason I can't afford the Avatar of Death power, they don't take armor. I have been experimenting with the Night Shroud, but I'm not sure yet, as few people swing for my vampire. It's fun when they do however, because he's in a unit of WS7, Hatred, Great Weapon, grave guard.
Most of my armor comes from Avatar of Death, but I keep my Lord wearing Walach's, a ward save without him catching the stupid? I'll bite.
