Alirght played a game against my brother at 750pts. He was O&G and I was VC. Granted we are both new so I had a ?. Can Grave Guard be "brought back to life" by IoN? It does not say no so we played it like it could, but he thought it was cheap that I could revive so many each turn . Also I dont see it but is there a limit? His Savage Orc Boys killed all but 2 Grave Guard in one turn the next I got them back to 16 w/ IoN. 4 castings and 3 were 6 guys back Awesome. Want to say that VC are UBER awesome. Thanks.

Any unit can be brought back as long as it hasn't been totally destroyed. Vampire, Ethereal, and non-infantry units can only be restored one wound per cast.
You can only raise a unit above starting size if you have the corresponding Master power, as well.
So... yep! You got that unit back.
Aye - note that Grave Guard can never be raised back beyond their starting size, but they can recover more than 1 wound per casting. Giant bats are ALSO capable of respawning multiple wounds and models....

You sure about the giant bats? They seem to be non-infantry units, just like dire wolves and bat swarms (fast cav and flying unit respectively, as GW has errata'd bat swarms into no longer being swarms). I'd assume that you can only get one wound back for them (so Summon Creatures of the Night doesn't seem that useful).

They are listed in the back of the Army Book as being infantry, surprising enough. One of the reasons I put them in lists is because I can raise half that squad in a single casting. A renewable war machine hunting unit.
2000AD's answer to all "How do VC deal with ..." questions: Forbidden Lore + 2 Power Stones.
Further answers will require more vodka.
Can GG be raised above their starting strength with IoN and Lord of the dead since thay are an infantry unit.
Lord of the Dead says Skeleton Warriors (A specific unit entry in the army).
Grave Guard aren't Skeleton Warriors. They're Grave Guard.

According to the back of the book bat swarms, crypt ghouls, grave guard, fell bats, skeleton warriors, and zombies get d6 wounds back per IoN. Everything else only gets one.
I don't understand why anyone would use Dire Wolves when for 4 extra points they would get accessability to IoN at full power and give flying for comparably 4 for points. That comparison assumes 2 Dire Wolves for 16 points vs. an equal combat stat Fell Bat for 20.
Wait, perhaps for Unit Strength since each Dire Wolf is worth 2 US and one Fell Bat is equal to US 1.
Still...I never realised that IoN was fully effective on Fell Bats.
