I've been looking through the vampires book and decided that i like both grave guard and black knights but i decided that the people would decide which are better so please comment
I would say that both have their place, so it's not really a fair question of which is "better." Rather, it's a question of which one is more essential in the army as a whole.
Many people take Grave Guard because we lack a sturdy, hard-hitting, infantry unit to be our 'anvil'. Thus, almost all Vampire armies have a regiment of GraveGuard in some form or other. There is no real replacement for Grave Guard. Using our standard Core will yield too many wounds to the opposing player, but a tuned up unit of Guard will actually put up a fight and won't cost us CR in the end.
Black Knights are not 'bad', but they can be replaced. We have Varghulfs, Blood Knights, and actually, Wraiths. Each unit has it's drawbacks, but they all fill the same role of 'fast moving striker'. Black Knights make great support units for Varghulfs, and are a cheap alternative to the other choices. However, Blood Knights are better knights, Varghulfs make better killing machines, and Wights are just plain lethal.
Finally, you can raise GraveGuard on a 1:1 ratio with your dice roll. Black Knights are not Infantry, so a single casting on IoN will only restore 1 wound. This makes GraveGuard more survivable.
Obviously, I voted GG.
I voted black knights, because they can get everywhere on the field. They hit fairly hard but they need the boost from a character inside the unit.
I like black knights over GG because they fitt better in my army, but in other army GG may be better. They serve a different role in the army so they shouldn't be compared.
I agree with Captain A vote for GGs from me
I'm used to Tomb Guards, but these fellows cost the same and are better fighters... Though Icon of Rakaph is one thing I miss to GGs

I would say I use Gravegaurd the most seeing as they're the easiest to keep replenished and form up a really solid bodygaurd for my lord.
However I did go a bit of a glass cannon and used a unit of 8 Black Knights with my Lord equipped with the dread lance and red fury. When they finally charged it really put fear into my opponent as they munched right thorugh their lines. But the reason I say glass cannon is for the simple reason that if your opponent has any high strength armour peircing shooting it makes it difficult to regenerate the unit as you can only regen 1 per cast. But fun regardless.
Voted BK because i like them better, but, i have to agree-GG are more powerfull, just look ETC VC lists-they are all the same.
European Team Championship - WHFB / Teams
Still-28pts for As 2+ and ethereal moving cavalry is nice...also-really maneuverable.
If i'm a priest, i'm not a saint.
Hmmm, I think those guys took them because it's easyer to dr&aw with regenerating GG then with anything else.
I was supposed to be there for team Belgium but sickness got in my way.
I chose the Grave Guard but it really depends on how you want to use him. I once put him in a unit of Knights with Sword of Kings, standard of Strigos and kept a helm of commandment nearby and used him to assassinate my opponents Scar-Vet. It works very well.
I can't really say that one is better than the other. Both are great at their purposes and are fantastic units. Because Black Knights ignore terrain they are fantastic for surprise attacks and taking out war machines. Plus just the idea of ghostly knights riding right through a building or forest is frankly terrifying.
However they only work with certain armies and certain tactics.
GraveGuard on the other hand, IMO have a place in every army. They are a fantastic anvil, tough, strong and deadly and perfect for guarding an important lord or hero or going on the offensive and danseing about murdering your foe.
