Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys I am building a VC army and I am looking for some models to use as their Black Knights cuz I don't really like GW's models for the.
I got the Gamezone Vampire Knights for my blood knights because I love their models so if someone can link me some sweet skeletal horsemen that would be awesome.
You can't go far wrong with putting Grave Guard on horses to be honest - they look the part, have some sweet weaponry and can easily be combined with teh Tomb Kings skeleton riders, along with parsimonious use of Greenstuff and bits from spare bretonnian or Empire Knights...
I bought the tomb kings horsemen box which gave me 8 black knights which is a lot cheaper than for a black knight. Then I took leftover bits from my grave guard and mixed then in which the bodies from the tomb kings. The only problem is that my command looks too much like tomb kings and not enough like Vampire counts.
If you're looking for barded knights then an obvious choice would be the empire cavalry. I did it by swapping the heads and shields for leftovers from my skeletons and a banner swap from a black orcs sprue. The only tricky thing is you have to make a neck for the heads out of greenstuff, as the ball joints are reversed for the two models.
You could use the same technique for the brettonians if you wanted a different look, but I'm a fan of how well everything meshes with the empire knights.
I converted some chaos knights into black knights, using some green stuff, grave guard heads and some of the shields from gg, looks pretty good Just avoid using the most chaos-marked bodies
I was lazy and just stuck some skeleton parts on some Empire and Brettonian knights.
2000AD's answer to all "How do VC deal with ..." questions: Forbidden Lore + 2 Power Stones.
Further answers will require more vodka.
I'm currently converting the Empire Outriders with the Grave Guard kit. I'll be painting the horses up to look like ghosts, thus the whole ethereal movement (I didn't want barding anyways). All I've done is used the legs of the empire models, and filed down the grave guard spine so that it sits flush. For lances, I've used the skeleton spears as I don't use the things.
Hopefully I'll be able to borrow a cam to put pics up, if not I'll have to wait till Christmas...
I went one further than suggestions above:
Using the following components:
Tomb Kings horsemen + skeletal steeds
Empire and Bretonnian Caparisoned steeds
Grave Guard torsos and weapons
Skeleton Spears (the spare ones from the Spears vs HW/Shield debate!!)
So what did I do?
I cut away the horse from the armour on the Bretonnian and Empire horses, and then stuck it on the plastic skeletal steeds to created barded skeletal steeds. I greenstuffed extra plates, ragged chainmail etc onto the models.
Then cut the skeletal horseman body just above teh qaist, at an angle, such that the grave-guard torso section can fit flush and not look like the rider is leaning back.
Add the skeleton horseman spear arm, but cut off the Tomb Kings spear-head and use the plastic spear blades from the skeletons sprue to replace it.
Greenstuff some additional armour plats and chainmail onto teh rider, and maybe some stick some spikes or blades to teh horses (to make them look like e.g. mini Chaos Knights or Blood Knights) and using the Dark Elf and old skeleton shields sprue, add some designs like the fanged skull etc to the barding...
I went with a unit of orc boar riders. Paint the boars a ghostly green or blue and then the orcs undeadish and they look pretty badass.
anyone have pics of their conversions?
