Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys, so i love the fluff of Abhorash and love the fluff of blood knights evern more..."the skill with lance and sword in life is married with the speed and strenght of vamparism...they will refuse no challenge....they stiill retain the dragon as their symbol..."
I was thinking of making an army out of blood knights, and also create a fighty lord to match this fluff. I dont care if ppl think blood knights are overrated, i love the fluff and the models, so heres what i was thinking.
Abhorash - Vampire Lord
Dreadlance + red fury
+1 combat res skill
-NB: planning to use a bloodknight model mounted on a dark pegasus from the dark elves range to represent abhorash.
-What do u think of my version of Abhorash? he will get shot to peices but thats something i like about him, i think he will be as hard as nails in combat, and he can scout which might save him from getting shot at.
-Will Abyssal terror be better than hellstead???
4BLoodknights 1 Kasetallian with sword of might.
Hatred Banner + full command
Vampire with BSB Banner of the bloodkeep
(in blood knights)
+1 combat (in blood knights)
(not sure about this build... should i give him red fury instead of dreadknight?)
9inch movement amulet
master of dark arts
summon undead creatues
Dire wolves to screeen... and core is core.
What do you guys think? will this still be compettitve? How do the charachters compare and 'feel'.

What's the rest of the army, coz dire wolves don't count towards core?
Reckon it would be fun but could (and probably would) go horribly wrong, that many points tied up in one frenzied unit would pretty easy for your opponent to control. If you wanted to go blood knight heavy i think you'd be better off with two smaller units cooridated together, screened with dires/zombie rez in tight spots.
Don't put your only lord on a large target, it'd be too tempting in any shooting phase.
I love the fluff too!
The scouting Vapiric Power can only be used for models on foot only. It wont effect him since he's mounted.
I really like the fluff of the blood knights as well. I made this list for my army, its a good balance between combat and magic I think. Mine was based off of the red duke's second reign (therefor the craziness that comes with the crown).
Dreadlance, Crown of the Damned
Dread Knight, Red Fury, Beguile
Extra Magic Level
Dark Acolyte, Lord of the Dead
Nightshroud, sword of battle, black periapt
Dark Acolyte, Lord of the Dead
Flayed Hauberk, Sword of Might
Dread Knight, Infinite Hatred
Book of Arkhan, enchanted shield
Skeletons x19 (Nightshroud vamp goes here)
Champion, Standard, Warbanner
Dire Wolves x5
Dire Wolves x5
Grave Guard x20 (Might Vamp goes here)
GW's, Senschal, Standard, Royal Standard of Strigos
Blood Knights x5 (Lord and possible mounted hero goes here)
Standard, Flag of the Blood Keep
Each vampire has the ability to do really well in combat and still put up a respectable magic phase. With 2 vamps concentrating on upping the skeles they should be in their 25-30's by the time they hit the enemy.
The mounted vamp hero may accompany the blood knights and lord or may solo across the field to hit targets of opportunity, depending on how much ranged attacks the enemy has.
I think if your going to make Abhorash ride anything other than a nightmare than it should be a zombie dragon.
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
I'd say that any Blood Dragon Vampire Lord to represent Aborhash would have to have Wrist Bands at the very least, and would probably be mounted on a Zombie Dragon (the Dragon he killed?).
Remember however it was NOT Abhorash who corrupted Blood Keep, but Walach, one of his followers..
If I was going to make a fluff-based Abhorash army, I'd focus on magic defense and combat vampires. If I were going to make an effective Abhorash army, I'd focus on magic offense to make sure that my Blood Knights stay alive.
Remember that the Blood Knights also came about long after Abhorash disappeared into seclusion. Wallach raised them, and they have since become decentralized, so that even now it would be difficult to rally them into an army once more. I've thought of fielding an Abhorash army, but focusing it more during the time before his dragon-killing fame. I was going to use Black Coaches to create tomb-king style chariots and then field lots of grave guard and blood knights, as the elite regiments that he once commanded.
Poodlepop, your own list is illegal. Firstly, the Scout power doesn't work on a mounted character. Secondly, Dire Wolves don't count towards your minimum required core choices, so you're out of luck there. Otherwise, the characters feel fine as far as fluff, although I'm not sure how well you would fare in competition. In your defense though, I've never even seen a list like this in competition. The varghulf doesn't really fit though- Abhorash preaches that martial skill exists to temper vampiric urges. Few if any of his followers would sink to the level of becoming a varghulf. Use those points to get more models into the list for sure.
If you want to find a good, martial style list, look for the 2k tournament report about Fighty Vampires in the battle report section, that was a apparently a strong list for this style of gaming.
Yeah - what Capt said :-)
