So the GW store that I'm living near has a mini toury coming up. One Lord vs an Army. No monster mounts, and no limit on points. Kill as much as you can. That's what I got from the manager. I want to prepare 2 builds, one combat and one magic. No summoning spells. I don't know if you get kills for winning combat and overrunning or not. I asked but that wasn't info that was ready at current.
Lord on hellsteed with Red Fury, Walking Death, Death Knight (unless there's another way to get the shield), Dreadlance, Nightshroud, and Talisman of Protection. And add the extra magic level because... why not no point limit. I picked nightshroud to deal with ASF if it comes up.
Not so sure. Combat was straight forward, kill stuff and hopefully overrun and kill a unit. If you don't get points for the overrun then think running around shooting fireballs and such would be better.
Lord with extra level. Now I'm left with some things to ponder. I think I'd like to take Lore of Fire, always good for killing. What would be better Hellstead or flying ability or just go with the movement 9 talisman?
What bound spells? I think the Rod of flaming death would be good for the panic, but again I don't know if they flee off the board if that counts as kills.
It's an interesting challenge. Any input would be great!
Drop the Death Knight and give him Terror instead. Then drop the Talisman and give him an enchanted shield. As for Magic, I don't know, but I suggest going with the combat. Terror is just for maybe panicking units away and buying you time if not points.
Can't give him enchanted shield with magic armor. The army I'll be facing hasn't been released, so terror might not be worth much if it's against daemons, WoC, Lizardmen, VC, Dwarfs, really anything other than Beastmen, Rats, and Greenskins. If they do give us a heads up on the army then terror could be awesome.
The more I think about it. The more I think that magic is the way to go. Fly around don't get stuck in combat and burn the other army to the ground. More input please! :-)
