I've been wanting to make a VC army for the longest time and I wanted to make it by converting my old Empire troops as a risen army of sorts and was just wondering if anyone had any pics or articles of someone who has done this before? Did a search on google and didn't have much luck
i have seen it done before, but it was all on Ebay, i was looking for some graveguard and saw some very nice conversions from greatswords, it can be done, and when done properly it looks really good, but i dont think the pics are still available, il see if i can find the guy again and see if he still got the pics if you want?
Fantasy : Empire, Chaos Warriors, Chaos Daemons, Vampire Counts, Beastmen, High Elves, Lizardmen( but i have opinions on every army just not the money)
40k: Black Templars, Imperial Guard, Dark Eldar, Tau (thinking of Eldar)
An easy way to convert your empire is to remove the heads from your knights and replace with either grave guard or skellie heads (or no heads at all) to make black knights. Militia can be repainted into zombies or rip a few limbs off of them and add some painted blood. Replacing swordsmen or spearmen heads with skeleton heads for skeletons. Repainting wizards as necros, or a war alter as a black coach, could work. You can put just about anyting on a 40x40 base and paint it ghostly and call it a spirit host. Pegasus can become winged nightmares, and Griffons can be the other monsterous mount (can't remember the name now). Corpse carts, ghouls, wolves, and varghulfs will be harder to get from empire models.
So basically, use skeleton heads (and maybe arms) and lots of repaints makes Empire => VC.
