I'm getting into Fantasy for the first real time, because of the new Edition. I've always loved Vampire Counts, just being able to raise new units and use a lot of "speed bumps" seemed especially fun.
How viable does an infantry army seem? I'm really not a cavalry fan and they look like they took a big hit in the new Edition, although Blood Knights still look insanely tough.
I was thinking something with a good bit a magic to replenish units but also be very fighty on the cheap. Maybe dual hand weapons and just bump up saves, with a few nicer items on the General. Hammer units would be Vampires, Grave Guard and possibly Blood Knights. Just hold units in place with Zombies or Skellies until I can get a fighting unit over and attrition them down.

My army is largely infantry based. It consists of fat units of core with a beefy anvil of grave guard. I like to throw in a Varghulf for some support and maybe some fel bats to bother artillery. With the ability to raise your troops back, infantry is the way to go with the vamps. Never spend points on zombies when making your list. Summon a unit of them when the game starts.
i only have infantry and varghulfs and stuff in my army- dont like cavalry much.
Its not overly competitive, just cool
