After dropping out of WHFB for about 3 years and playing strickly 40 iv decided to potentially give it another shot seeing as how there were so many new improvements in the new rule book. I am a former wood elf player I was thinking about playing them again but then i realized how much I hated painting them and decided that vampires give you so much more freedom and customizable ability then a bunch of tree hugging elves.
Iv been sucked in by the dark side.... so to speak, and think that Vampire counts are a very potential option for me.
Im curious though, Ideally I would like to run Vampires, Ghouls, Grave Guard, Black knights and blood knights but i'm not sure how competitive a list made up of this would work. Im really into the Black magic feel and the summoning zombies etc stuff as well so I would like to play heavily on magic as well.
I'm thinking of points ranging from 1000-2000
How viable would such an idea be when I want to play at a competitive level?
Blood knights are a struggle at 2000 let alone 1000, too expensive.
Personally, i think black knights are crap
Grave guard are a must for every army, the best unit point for point in my opinion
ghouls are good, tough, pretty good in combat as vc core units go but no command and no armour( the amount of 5+ saves i make with my skeletons is ridiculous so maybe im biased towards them)
Varghulfs are just cool
Black coach is good on paper and would suit your theme.
After watching a game recently and someone running skeletons I was kind of shocked at how well they preformed. I really like the idea of reanimating the dead too so using squads where I can continuously add more models to them seems more suitable for what I'm looking for.
I was thinking of using the black coach over blood knights too. Not because I think it's better but because I don't want to spend 120$ on 5 blood knights. I'm still going to look into it more before I go ahead and buy anything. You know figure out exactly what I want and try a few proxy games first.
