Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys, hopefully every one having fun in 8th ed, i know iam. A recent thread of mine brought up a really intresting thought and i wanted to ask the community of fellow gamers this question.
On Average, how many heros do you field in 2kpts, 2250pts, 3kpts, or if your high enough 4k.
I would like to hear what other people's army's are like and how they use there heros. Is it working, or what?
ill start by saying hate 2k point games, but i have played a few. I tend to run 1 solid caster Vampire lord with forbidden, black arts. I tend to talior my Spell lore on my opponent. The other heros i run are 2 vampires and 1 nec. 1 vampire caster support running Dark Aco, LOTD and the other a warrior hero. Then i run a basic Nec for ION. My basic goal is to spam magic with lord and support him with a Bunker type VC army. Hate style, and games r boring.
At 3k I run 2 Vamp Lords, Black Arts, Forbidden and spam Winds of undeath and Curse of years. I then Run 2 Vampires similar to above, 2 Nec's for the chance of +Power dice, and 1 wight King as Black Knight support.
Overall: 2k 1 Lord 2 Vamps 1 Nec
3k 2 Lords 2 Vamps 2 Nec's 1 Wight
Feel free to write as much as you like, i always love reading about what others do, and love this game and always looking to learn from others!
Good Luck and have fun!

3k pts i field; 1 Lord; 2 Vamp heroes; konrad; and wight king bsb
Lord has dark alcolyte but built for combat, other vamps are combat based too, i dont feel the need for excess magic users, but thats just me
Im using these heros for both 2500(our current standard) and 3000 (only dif between lists is some core and bloodknights).
1 casty support lord: Fencers Blades, Helm of command, MoBA,forbidden lore, flayed hauberk, lvl 3
1 other support vamp: Forbidden Lore, 2+ common armor
1 wight king: BSB Drakenhoff Banner.
My lord keeps all my block troops moving save for my second GG unit which usually flanks with the other vamp and king. This way all my block troops are at least leadership 9 for quick reforms and whatnots. I usually take Lore of Light and Beasts. I find that i dont need anymore characters then this. Every one has its place and allows me to put points elsewhere. I have never found a vampire or wight king to be worth his points in grave guard unless he has a specific purpose. Necromancers are ok if you need redundancy casting of nek, but ive found that the extra channeling with them is not worth their points. This and Van Hels being so much worse i dont need a guaranteed one. I would use one to reduce points further but i needed another vamp for marching, this and vamps are more resilient. My lords purpose is obvious, the second vamp is for casting mostly when my lord fails to cast and the king is there for drakenhoff. Its a fairly efficient list in terms of points. I think that 8th has done away with HeroHammer somewhat, and though in 7th I maxed all my characters i dont find it worth it in this edition. Though ive only played about 35 or so games and still have alot to learn and tweak. Playing 3000 points tommorow in fact
Also thought i might mention that according to the new rules your not supposed to tailor your lore for your opponents(cant be helped in casual alot of the time, but then you should not anyway as its casual). Im assuming for tourneys that its going to be required to be selected ahead of time, so just go with you best lore against everyone.
Yea usually when i play with my friends, we all roll dice and highest play and lowest. There is a nice rotation of 2 Lizardmen, Skaven, Ogres, Deamons, Wood Elfs, High Elfs, and i got Beastmen and VC. Usually with friends, you can stack ur lore a bit, make games a bit more fun. Plus we always like a little stacking to turn already played games into new ones.
Good Luck and have fun!
