ok the BRB states that an ethereal model is not harmed by normal attacks (only magical) but it goes on to say they can still lose combat res. How does this work , do you still count wounds caused against in the combat res or only points if the openent has a banner and stuff? Im struggling to see how they can still lose combat unless you counts wounds caused.
an example 1 base of spirit hosts vs a saurus scar vet (non magic weapon)
so attacks are done the spirit hosts wound the scar vet and he attacks back causing 2 wounds (obviously no spirit host dies as the attack is not magical)
so would the combat res in this instance be 2-1 to the scar vet
Noooooo, only wounds actually caused count to combat res. But so do ranks, standard, flank, charging etc. So if a unit of spirit hosts charge a unit of 20 swordsmen and cause a wound; the spirit hosts would have charge and a wound, the swordsmen have banner and 2 ranks. The swordsmen win by one so a spirit host takes a wound from crumbling. Simples. (p.s. as you say, non-magical attacks can't wound them so no-one ever rolls for them)
ok thanks for that. will have to make sure i have lots of ranks and standards or magical weapons
