What's up everyone? I just got some models from a friend and I'm thinking of playing VC. I haven't played in a long time and I've never played 8th edition. From what I understand... Don't feild corpse carts and zombies.
Right now the models I have are
2 vampire hero models
And I just ordered 30 more skellies and 20 grave guard.
What I'm pretty much wondering does VC still kick ass in 8th? are they competative? And does what I have and bought make for a decent 100 point army... ish?
lol thanks in advance
check the army list section and look at my list, im new as well and the guys have been helping me out. seems like you have a good start already.
i think you mean a 1000* point army
NOTE: I do not play VC, i verse them. Yes, like you i still play 7th ed.
I can recommend some units for 8th which include...
grave guard- 4+ save in combat with a 6+ ward save, good strength and toughness, killing blow very good solid unit.
vargulf are very good, venerable from flaming attacks? very good fighter.
Ghouls have like 2 attacks, poison, toughness 4! which is very similar to plague monks, and i love plague monks.
Skeletons, most people say they are better than ghouls due to equipment. No idea, get both i guess.
Units i don't recommend include
Zombies because they will suffer more damage due to fighting in 2 ranks.
KNIGHTS, now a dwarf has a potential charge range of 15 inches(2D6 + movement) there's almost no point for knights. Also they cant do the classic charge, kill loads of enemies and run them down as there are new rules.
Conclution - I wouldn't recommend VC in 8th edition!!!
All units in the VC codex have fear, in 7th edition this was almost unbeatable however in 8th ed its almost useless.I think you must take a LD test, if you fail you go down to WS 1 for the turn/combat phase.
In 7th ed you automatically went first if you charge, now its always by initiative. (yay for skaven!) Not likly to strike first.
People feel free to bag me if im wrong and Keep Punching!
