I think you should find your own playstyle as well as build an own list. Alot more fun (in my opinion). But if you want some help with whats good or not, how many points do you plan to run? Some units are better in high points games, others are better in small points games. However, ghouls work well in all kinds of games ^^
im looking for a 2k list but got some more bits and swaped some ghouls for skeletons so i got
20 grave guard about 30 black knights plus some mounted charcter could be proxid as bloodknights
2 corpse carts
I'm not going to make a list (as I mostly play without special chars) but something that I know is tough to kill is a big unit of ghouls with the drakenhof banner (regen). One tactic could be to put your ghoul block in the middle, then have skeletons and grave guards to countercharge. Have your black knights and varghulf take out warmachines ^^
You could convert one corpse cart into a black coach, it's awesome (in my opinion )
Konrad is quite the character slayer and mannfred is one of the top wizards in the game (me thinks)
Hope this helps you a little more ^^
Well, there's 2 ways to go about a VC army, basically is boils down to do you want to win most of your games, or do you want to have some fun?
If you're looking to wreck face with VC's, then you'd run 2-3x 30-40 ghouls, 20x skellies w/command, 30 grave guard w/barrows banner + wight king BSB w/drakenhof banner, caster lord w/helm. Very little stands upto such as list, but it gets extremely boring very fast and isn't likely to garner you too many friends!
If you're looking for some fun & good times, just experiment! Our special characters aren't so special apart from konrad who simply butchers multi-wound units by himself! But it's fine to use those models as just 'generic' vampires.
Play around with various combos and see what works for you.
VC's have been battered nearly senseless by the nerf bat, but we still have some nifty tricks, and we're still one of the only armies that can use magic to gain additional movement for example.
