ok im plannin on starting vamps as my secondary army for 8th within the next few months, ive got the book and written lists but im wondering which do people prefer to use as thier main army?
zombies summoned do not count im on about any unit that has been paid for in points.
so which is it guys and whats your reason?
i prefer ghouls but thats just me =)
But I shan't vote since I'm sensing that this isn't a complete joke army Most effective? Either ghouls or skellies, depends what you're up against, I'm more inclined towards ghouls myself.
If someone helps you, rep them.
In a votewar you don't vote on a single match, you vote on the entire round. Got that?
im just after opinions,
have to say i usually end up with in 3000 points about 100 zombies in the list and the same for ghouls just cause i like the themes haha like the idea of zombies and ghouls to me are pretty much a living version of them fluff wise anyway
i think my banners will have brains as the only writing on them with the shambling horde following
Ghouls for attacking, skeletons for bunkers and zombies for raising and tarpitting.
I voted Zombies, mostly for theme-based reasons. They probably would've been very ideal, except for them zombies being more akin to 2-point wonders compared to what their actual cost is.
Otherwise, Ghouls are my second choice. Corpse-eating cannibals are too good to ignore.
It depends on your mindset really... Are you looking to simply play to win, or are you wanting to have some fun?!
For myself, I think background & theme are vital to an army list as the overall story is what really defines warhammer and sets it apart from other games.
Thus, I stick to skellies since I play a Lahmian army, and us prissy little girls don't like ugly, ikky, gross, smelly things! (I'll summon zombies though, but my vampress stays well away from them so she doesn't have to smell them!)
Now, if you're looking for "what is the 'best' core choice", then ghouls are the obvious choice, and a small 20-man skellie bunker for a caster & the unit banner.
Our book is craptastically broken, (even in 7th our book sucked balls in terms of balance), so VC's have really become one of those armies you choose because you like vamps in general!
Personally I'm thrilled that all the WAAC's bandwagon hoppers have moved on... Perhaps now I'll get far fewer dirty looks for playing VC's?!
As for the main frontline unit, I personally think that there is no reason why you shouldnt mix. For 3k armies and above I have 3 skeleton bunkers and 1 Ghoul unit. Its pretty effective since skeletons are great for holding back the tide thats coming at you, while its fairly easy to support them by sticking characters in the unit or simply raising more and more of them. Meanwhile ghouls can operate seperately (and preferably supported by bats or something) in order to perform specific tasks, like take down sphinxes or something - make use of that poison. But I do have to admit that this is fluff based since I am going for the whole bloodsucker theme.
