Welcome to Librarium Online!
i am new to warhammer fantasy i chose vampire counts cause i think there pretty awesome, well aside from that i dont know much about fantasy i havent even played my first game yet, ive always been a 40k player, i wanted to know some of your ideas on how to build a decent sized 500 - 750point game with the following units i have:
- 1 vampire
- 20 skeleton warriors
- 20 zombies
- 10 ghouls
- 20 grave guard
- 1 corps cart
i dont play to win, i play to have as much fun as possible and keep people i play on there toes
That's a good start. However wait for the naysayers who will come by and smash your selection, telling that you shouldn't have "this" but you should have "that".
You've got a nice selection box that can do everything you want. You can add magic items and spells, more characters, models and units to it as you see fit to raise your points level when you;re happy with your tactics. Nothing's wasted here. Vampire in the Grave Guard on the left, Corpse Cart/Necromancer on the right and everything arranged around for best magic results. Ghouls out in front, and you're away. Everything can be pushed in against enemy units in combat with anything else.
I've sent you a PM about something you may be interested in regarding the 8th ed FB rules. Let us know how you get on with your games. I can't see you doing badly with this lot-you'll lose a few games until you find your way, but don't panic-then we'll see some real undead action!
Give a man a gun and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank and he can rob the world.
I recommend lots of ghouls, lots of grave guard, and a couple of necromancers (in addition to the vampire lord). Ghouls are much better in 8th than skeletons (Tomb Kings skeletons are identical and cost half as much), therefore I recommend Ghouls for your core. Grave Guard are awesome. Necromancers are good for throwing Invocation of Nehek on one die, and for guaranteeing that somebody knows Van's Danse Macabre. Also, a Black Coach is pretty fun to have, not super amazing, but entertaining and magic phase wrecking. Good Luck!
