Maybe a silly question but do Undead benifet from steadfast so they don't crumble when they lose combat, but outrank the enemy?
Sadly the 'steadfast' rule has no possible benifit for us other than denying it to the enemy...
Ward obviously has some massive hate-on for the undead - and VC's in particular it seems as we're getting the epic shaft at every damn turn! *looks to storm of magic and how we got easily the worst cataclysm spells*
Unfortunately not, since unstable cares not for being steadfast.
Vampires must really suck big time now? we should have some kind of rule to stop us getting beat up and falling apart all the time. I think that we either go cheese on the Vampire builds and grave guard combos or get slapped around. or we try and cast a spell using more than one dice, miscast and our general dies. Overpriced units and models (blood knights).
I'm due to play a Grimgor led horde of orc and goblins army soon and can only see myself getting owned big time as I have to take vlad, which leaves me only 240 Lord points for a vampire lord magic build ;( vamp lord, lord of dead and crown of commandment is the best I can do .
Can a Vamp army compete without a master of black arts, forbidden lore, lord of the dead, magic upgrade, crown of commandment Vampire lord?

4 fell bats (war machine hunter)
3 Cairn Wraiths + Tomb Banshee (draw out fanatics but prob use raised zombies for that))
At my FLGS I'm, running my blood knights list which is unbeaten yet.
Lord - red fury, infinite hatred, dreadknight, orge blade, cadaverous cuirass, crown of the damned, magic level
Wight king - bsb drankenhoff banner, barded stead
Vampire - forbidden lore (beasts), helm of command
Necromancer - vanhels, dispel scroll
2 x 24 Ghouls - ghast
18 Skeletons - full command, licheborne pennant
7 Blood knights - Full command, balefire spike, banner of strigos
Comes to about 2k
Lord, wight and knights run together and pretty much obliterate whatever they hit. It has wiped a 30 man great sword unit to the man in one phase. I am planning to swap the helm with the staff of damnation, but needs some tweaking and play testing.
