Welcome to Librarium Online!
Just wandering what your thoughts where on the new Terrorgheist? Great looking model and an awesome Death Shriek attack.
Would you use it? and if so would you field it as a rare option or as a Ghoulkings mount? I think the Blood Dragon Vampire on a Zombie Dragon option is a huge point sink and sucks big time. Good model though.
i would say that w/ only save 6+ rege the GW is just making fun of VC, 'like the death shriek is cool, but i would only take it as rare
Only 6+ Regen is a disappointment, but T6 W6 will help it hold up, and the Deathshriek lets you whittle down units without giving them a shot at hitting you back. I don't think it's mechanically spectacular (especially not compared to the model - that thing is awesome!), but I would give it a trial period to see if it can earn a spot in the army. I wouldn't field it as a Ghoul King mount, though - I'd go for the standalone.
Well I'm getting one (looks su-weet!). But yes, only a 6+ regen. I'm only taking it as a rare. Who cares though, I get an awesome vampire in the kit too! Overall, I'm quite happy with this. Doesn't quite make up for the 8th ed nerfing, but you're getting there GW
If someone helps you, rep them.
In a votewar you don't vote on a single match, you vote on the entire round. Got that?
I dont get it. If there is one army in fatasy that should have the highest regen save of all, it is definitely the VCs. So why the hell do the rules not represent this?
The model does look pretty cool. I kind of like the way GW has gone about making this kit; Zombie Dragon/Terrorgheist in one (I wonder if you can magnetise or something so as to be able to switch between the two?) and two Vampires that you could potentially use elsewhere!
Like most/all big gribblies, the Terroghiest's effectiveness will substantially decrease as the pts levels go up...
T6/W6/6+ regen is pretty average overall. It lacks on the WS & I like all undead, and sadly that's a bad thing now for us. Most enemy's will get their strikes in first, plus the abscenely huge base he's one gives him a large footprint, so that's even more attacks coming his way! At least his fear-causing is still about as good as can be.
The scream looks good on paper, will have to see how it averages out over a game though as the dice can be rather fickle...
It also isn't a 'vampire' so it needs babysitting to move about at speed.
The main drawbacks though;
- Huuuuuuuuge combat footprint. He can't take on units by himself especially since he has little chance of going first and at least trying to drop a few incoming attacks... Since everyone wounds on a 6+ now, and his WS sucks, I think people will be quite surprise at how fragile this guy can be against even single attack WS4 or better unit!
The large base also makes it harder to support him in turn with a unit of our own... Cleaver opponents will reform their frontage to just 5-wide soas to force us into manouvering for flank charges and such, meaning enemy units will almost always be steadfast in combat.
- Huge hight issues means it'll be hard to hide him from missile units. True it's generally a problem for most/all monsters, but this guy looks like he could be the Soulgrinder/Defiler of fantasy! No cover benifits ever...
- 6+ regen = not enough. Why even bother? It's actually pretty easy to get around the regen anyways, and a 6+ is nothing more than a hailmarry at best when on it's own... Would have been better to give us a slightly reliable 5++ or else make the damn regen count for something!
At 2,000pts and higher, this guy become more of a liability because war machines are that much more prevalent... Using a terroghiest means you'll need to invest in fell bats and other faster units who can get to the missile troops/war machines ASAP, otherwise 1 shooting phase = dead terrorghiest if there's a decent sprinkling of war engines about.
- Not a 'Vampire', so you need a vargulf/coach/vampire to babysit him to keep him moving at speed.
- Our Rare section is already under alot of strain to fit everything in! There's already enough compitition for our rares, what we really *needed* was something to move to the special slot!
I love the model and everything, but the rules just seem to be a bit 'meh' overall... This isn't adding all that much to our list overall, (considering that including a terrorghiest means a lack of other rare inclusions), and it hasn't leveled out the real problems in our list - namely the over-priced & highly lacking core & special sections.
if you compare the other rare choices he is a HUGE dissapointment (i dont now if it is a he or she but i call it he).
see the vargulf, it is MUCH better and blood knights is nice too, i think i will leave him behind but in big games like 4000 a vargulf a terrorgheist and a vampire lord on horse might be very good
an army that seeks to fight without the protection of the eagle claws is clearly courageous or inept. either way, í wish no part in it - Eolaran Greyhawk, Seamaster.
I think the gheist is awesome! model and rules.
a monster with a reasonable 4 attacks at s5. T6 (like a "normal" dragon) and 6 wounds (even more than a dragon) it flies, it causes terror, it's unbreakable(well undead...) and it has an awesome shriek that it can fire EVERY TURN, not just once like a breath weapon and most importantly: NO ARMOUR saves!!!! (kills an avarage of 5 chaos knights per shriek at full wounds, that's not bad.
-sucky weapon skill (meh, i can live with that)
-only a 6+ regenegation (there are many monsters without any save at all, stop whining)
-needs babysitting (i guess this is the thing i am worried about the most)
I think this ..."thing" is a bargain for only 225 points. And just imagine the face of your opponent when you place 3 of these things next to your ghoul hordes....
ps: why would you take any of the upgrades, they suck!
