Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hi there. I wanted to get a few opinions from people about how they are dealing with the new HQ restriction on lords and heroes. I'll be honest, not sure about anyone else, but I used to be vampire coocoo. At 3k-3.5k I used to field 5-6 vampires, be it a fetish or an obsession I dont know, but it was darn effective against just about anyone. Now on the other hand, I would be lucky to get away fielding half of that.
I dont care what you field but I want to know how you organize it, now that we have the limitation in place. Do you use a mage or a warrior as a main lord? How do you equip him? Who do you put him with? Do you ever use a dragon/gheist? How do you use him?
Also secondary characters, like wight kings - do you use them? How, BSB or anti-Hero? Do you use secondary mages to support your vamp mage lord or use them to act as the main mage for a warrior vamp lord? Also equipment and strategy would also be appreciated.
I want to particularly hear about vampires because like I said Im coocoo for blood, and before anyone asks HELL NO I dont like twilight
To be honest at 3k or 3.5k haveing 5-6 campires isn't much of a problem, I mean with being able to spend up to 750 point on lords and another 750 on heros you can easily fit 5-6 vamps in that space. Although more to your question with supporting characters, not sure if you would want them all to be vamps, I mean there great overall, but it can be costly, for instance you need a good caster, you can settle for a necro and save some points for more troops. For battle standards i like the idea of wight kings, there very durable, so you can give them heavy armour shield, and a magic banner, and with t5 and 3w they can take a beating and still be around holding up a magical banner.
I've only just picked up the new rulebook so I'm not sure how well the last edition will translate over to the new one points-wise, but then again I'm probably not the best person to ask on this as my list is built around a theme and thus constrained by that.
So I have my Vampire Lord who obviously leads the army.
A Wight King created from the body/soul of a fallen friend.
A Necromancer who befriended and mentored the Vampire
An associate of the Necromancer who used to work as a thief for them.
The last two I was never quite sure how to represent them. It seems obvious to use the Necromancer profile for the necromancer, but I could just as easily count them as a Vampire. The same with the assistant - they're meant to be a mortal, but I'd probably use the Vampire profile to represent them, although I could possibly use another Wight.
