Having read though the vampire book and I was thinking of running some crypt horrors. Tough, poisonous and regen. Only problem is I like to keepwith the fluff of any army I play and crypt ghouls and horrors are really looked down on as they aren't truly undead. So I was looking something to replace them with.
I also play ogres and they fit the bill great. The ogre spells Toothcracker and Trollguts would explain the increased toughness and regen from a normal bull. Like they still have the effect of the last spells cast on them before they died. I want to model them like they died in combat, with big gaping wounds. One of them I want to put ahole though them, like a cannon ball smashed though his gut plate and continued right out the other side. For the poison I was thinking of using hot glue on the weapon. Anyone that has ever used hot glue knows how messy it is, it's perfect to goo poison onto the weapons. So rather crypt horrors I would have ogre zombies.
Let me know what you think. I'm planing to run 6 of them.

I don't really think having residual ogre magic left over would be the best explanation, perhaps some VC tomfoolery such as feeding the beast vampire blood.
Or perhaps the simple fact that it is, a very large zombie, inherently being tougher and having a regen save.
Model-wise, I think it would actually look really cool, most of the conversion work will have to be done yourself however, I don't think theres many zombie bits that fit the size of an ogre.
Id like to see how it turns out at any rate, cheers.
i collect ogres, i have a undead ogre army i have converted most of my army, but only painted 2 I do rotting flesh basecoat and my weird way of washing the model with thraka green, i spread the wash all over the model, not just in the recesses. it works well, all the best to u
Sounds like a cool idea. Especially the 'shot through' Ogre......... I can see that conversion getting messy You should do him trailing intestines and other random organs plopping out!!!
As for the poisoned weapons try this out. It worked pretty well for me and is a lot less dangerous than a hot glue gun!! Linky
i have been thinking about doing the same thing. i am putting together a undead pirate army (all part way submerged in their bases w/ water effects) plus back in 2005 or something white dwarf put up a zombie pirate rules. one of the units were zombie ogres (pirated didnt care who was on their crew) i love the idea of undead from diffrent armies on the feild because lets face it a zombie is a zombie and it doesnt matter were it came from : )
Good Luck and happy gaming
What do you do if Glade Guard are sitting in some woods with a Treeman nearby? You can't do anything to the Treeman, and if you charge the Glade Guard, all kinds of Elven woodiness will get to you.
This is a very cool idea! Also if you decide not to take crypt horrors in a game, you can use them as unit fillers for your zombies.(I dont have any MI so I'm just assuming they line up properly.) But you should post some pictures!
