Have decided to take a Black Coach as a rare option in my army, but cant help but feel it looks a bit on the small side. I plan on converting one but have run into a wall as far as ideas come. Have browsed online and most coach conversions only go so far as to exchange the mounts (which i shall be doing, unit som spare mounts from my Black Knights), but the actual coach part is made even smaller looking after this.
Im not looking for a corpse cat look, i like the idea of the funeral coach like the current black coach, i just need to make it ...bigger somehow.
If anyone has any ideas or photos would be most apreciated.
1 idea that i going trough my head is to put the coach on the ghost part of the mortis engine, that should look pretty sweet.
A word of warning. The next time you get a strange unexplained reading on your Flagship's scanner and sensor arrays, don't dismiss it as a glitch or ghost. The Necrons are a real threat now, and they are out there, biding their time, waiting for you!
I had looked at the possibility of doing the opposit, and having the actual engine part of the mortis engine pulled by some black knight horses. A little concerned that it may look to much like the mortis engine i also am looking at taking but i think with a few tweeks if could look amazing. it may have to be a project i actualy take photos for and post.
This idea is currently at the forefront of my thinking.
Could you use some sort of 40k vehicle (minus the guns, obviously) to give yourself the scale you were looking for? That necron arc thing but with a roof added and some fierce looking steed.
You could try havinf a bunch of ghostly mourners following the Coach about. You could also make a bigger deal of the Vampire in his coffin by having the Coach open topped and have undead/corpsemaster lackeys watching over the coffin. A banner showing the coat of arms or personal standard or icon of the Vampire in the coffin will help to make the model larger as standards are fairly large. On a model like the Black coach it won't be mis taken for a unit standard either.
You dont even need to use a "coach" so to speak. A friend of mine used a chariot to convert his, which is something that I've also been meaning to do for a while. He took a chariot and fixed it with 2 hexwraiths mounts to pull it. Found a wraith with a massive scythe from online, from Rakham I think and mouted it on the chariot. Lastly took 2 massive scything talons from an oop tyranid warrior(or tyrant cant remember) and mounted them onto the wheels of the chariot, then used cotton to swab along the blade edge and provide an ethereal, smoking look.
I would like to see someone build a miniature coffin car, don't know what they're called, that funeral services use. Painted black, with a wraith driving...
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
I'm making mine into santa's sleigh, with Jack from "A Nightmare before christmas" driving it.
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
I think a cool idea would be to add spikes to the wheels, bat like wings to the coach or the horses and to paint it ethereal. To represent the powered up version of the black coach. I think it would be easy to do and would look good.
