Welcome to Librarium Online!
1 blood dragon thrall
Black Axe of Krell
6 Dire Wolves
1 Doom Wolf
10 Grave Guard
5 Black Knights
Banner of the Barrows
10 Fell Bats
I would not use the black axe of krell and instaed give your thrall a great weapon, you should maybe swap your grave quard with a unit of zombies ,as you need a unit to build on.
"Fight like gobbos"- Skarsnik
My advice would be to retool the thrall, similar to what Silvermoon mentions. Also, I'd drop all the wights. They're extremely expensive for a 1000 pt army. Skeletons and zombies can be replenished and will fulfill the VC's main advantage, spreading fear among the enemy.
Definitely keep the ghouls. They're great, especially in small battles. Their high toughness and two poisoned attacks work wonders.
Whew! That's a lot of fell bats! Why so many? If they're hunting characters, march blocking, or taking out war machines, the same tasks can be accomplished with smaller numbers. And since all flyers are skirmishers, they can't flank to any real effect. Reducing numbers will free up some points for other goodies.
Ethereal hosts are great any point size. Consider a base or two of those.
I don't think you can have both the black periapt and the spell familiar as they're both arcane items.
Last, most VC players will advise you to drop the doom wolf and take another dire wolf instead. You get another wound, one attack, and more unit size that way.
yeah thanks for the tips i will take them into consideration.
Hope it helped. I know how tempting it is to use those grave guard and black knights, especially since they actually have some punch, unlike zombies and skeletons. I find it hard to fit both into even a 2000 pt game but I sure love them when that killing blow's rolling.
Hey if you guy can give me any more tips that would help a lot. this is my first fantasy army so any help would be good.
Have you read the VC tactica over in the tactics and strategies forum? It's a good place to start.Originally posted by blood dragon@Mar 2 2005, 10:27

The tips that I need to remember are autobreaking (on most) enemies when you beat them in combat and lapping around if you beat them but don't outnumber them.
I think that DavidVC04 and Silvermoon says most of it, but Ill just add a few comments:
* take the thrall of the nightmare, place him in an infantry unit.
* make that unit skeletons instead of zombies, and give them light armor.
* Drop the bats all together, to get spirit hosts of 2, and lots of spare points
* Add another necromancer or thrall
* spend the rest of the points on larger/more units and equipment for chars.
