Hey all, although I started VC about 2months ago I really havn't played anything above 200pts, but I decided to enter a tournament (got about 1k pts still too paint). Probily gonna have a rough time but oh well. Any suggestions or general help would be appreciated although do realize that im using all my models in this list (minus extra skeletons), so any derastic changes probily arn't going to happen.

There are better items than the staff of damnation for the necromancer.

Yes, on two groups of 5 dire wolves.

With such a small number of grave guard, I'd consider the War Banner to help with combat resolution.

Paint up those spare skeletons and slide them in there, even at the expense of one spirit host base. Those are your bread and butter for spreading fear and breaking the enemy. At the very least, make it one large unit instead of two small ones. You need outnumbering and ranks for combat resolution.

Summon ghouls is a nice power if you have the models.

    Good luck!

zThe list seems good , however you'll be needing thos incarnations coming to boost those empty units of yours and also the grave guard look abit out of place and small.

you wont stand a chacne with that .
i dont like stringoi anyway but thats only my opnion they are quite good .
the main prob is the skellys theres hardly any

    i would try this

your vamp and necros are fine then get this

    19 skellys
    spears
light armour ( your choice )
    standard

    19 skellys
    spears
light armour ( again your choice )
    standard

    19 grave guard
    hallys
    standard

put the chacters in the units then build around that

Yeah, the small skellie units won't last long. You've got to get combat resolution in your favor, or your units will start to crumble. You can't count on a lot of kills from skeletons, so outnumbering and rank bonuses are big.

I'd bump up the unit size or spend my first two or three invocations trying to bolster their size, which is, of course, unreliable.

Three spirit host bases will do a great job of screening, flanking, tying up units, so I'd drop one of the four. That will free up some points. Then I'd drop one of the four bats for 20 more points. You've now got 85 points at your disposal.

Usually, and this is just me, I don't take two units of wolves until 2000 pts. If you dropped one, you'd have another 50 points, totalling 135, enough to bulk up those skeletons. And I'd put light armor on one of the two units of skeletons. They need it.

Personally, I'd drop the grave guard altogether. Seeing those expensive models die off to combat resolution just sucks eggs, which is what will happen when they fight a larger unit. If I kept a unit that size, I'd never let go head to head against a ranked unit. Instead, I'd flank with it.

Strigoi's are great, mad crazy fighters.

I played my first real fantasy game today and won (slaughterd lizardmen, the otherguy had horrible luck and my spirit host just beat out his big unit and then ran them down killing like 300+pts). The GG seemed too slow in the game I played but they did there job in keeping the flank, and the fell bats were very dissapointing (although they killed a enemy flier and hurt another, and had no warmachines to go after). My skeleton units ended up being huge by end game, the one with general was 14 above starting strength. My magic was rather dominate, including getting curse of years off on a huge dino with a bolt thrower (killed half the crew on 6's).

So all in all I was generally happy with my army, although extremely lucky...

Congrats on the win. I have a lot of trouble with my friend's lizardmen army, but I think a lot of it is that he's a better player than I am. :hmm:

Anyhow, VC magic great, but magic can be fickle. My necrarch army took a beating this weekend, first from Nurgle then from, you guessed it, my friend's lizardmen army. And my magic that day was rather unremarkable, even downright lousy (a miscast on the last magic phase of the game&#33
