Welcome to Librarium Online!
I realy don't plan on it. I like the whole undead feal to the army and plan on having the whole thing Undead.
Oh, and since I didn't want to make this into just a useless "Rate my Army!" topic, I actually threw that in there. And for a good reason, because I don't plan on using models that are "Alive!" so it does go along with it.
Anyway... My army set up will probubly be along the lines of: Ladys in larger battles (I kind of need too cus I have to have one character that stands above them all, Elizabeth), Countess for 2k (same as before), Necromancer Master once or twice (I don't mind mixing it up a bit)
tons of Necros (I love magic and need the back up) and Thralls (to get in a bit of physical fun) and wraiths and wight lords just to mix it up a bit
For my core troupes I'll have Skeletons forming guard type units, Dire Wolves in units of 6 (most likely 2 - 3 units in lower point games and 5 to 7 in larger games, I love these guys, they're perfect assassins for archers and weak units), and Zombies can be raised (I'd actually rather take them because they are almost the same as skelletons with just less leadership, but it's really not very fluffy)
Black Knights (nice elite killer), Fell Bats to get across to the artillery where the Wolves can't reach fast enough, Spirit hosts (how can you not love ghosts?)
Tons of Banshees, and in larger games I may take a Black Coach
I'll also take Swains if my opponant lets me.
The entire concept is to try and stay fluffy, whilst having a bit of fun with them, also I just happen to love dire wolves, they rock, they're good at multiple tasks, and just amazing. Oh, and I plan on putting my Lady on a dragon at some point.
Maybe Alive! dont fit the theme for VC but even if bat swarms kinda suck ghouls own other skirmishers and poison attacks can be badass against rank and file and ghouls are already half undead aneway. and as to your army i think its good but only cause u r a senior member and must know what u r doing, i myself despise lahmians but to each his own and another thing is how manmy points r u talking?

Oh, no, don't take the whole senior member thing as people who know more than other people. I'm working off of one squad of skellies and a pack of Lahmian Vampires, I'm not that experianced in fantasy, I became a senior member from being into 40k.
But as for why I chose Lahmians is because I love that whole powerful women aspect. And the entire quick blood and innocence lost are great abilities. Plus the whole extremely fast aspect is amazing, I love the whole cheetah like speed with all the same grace (I'm one of those people that feels great when they do something that's either fast or difficult with lots of agility(I'm fat, so that's kind of why)). They just agree with who I am and what I like (it was a toss up between Lahmians and Dark Elves, but my love of Elizabeth Bathory pulled me to Vampire Counts).
I almost always use ghouls. The only other living unit to take, besides Dogs of War, is a bat swarm, but they behave as the undead do, unbreakable, fear-causing and so on.
I like your army comp pretty well. I don't use that many wolves, and probably won't anytime soon, but more power to ya.
Hehe, I'm kind of a speed freek. I was gunna do a Dark Elves army based on Corsairs (as my only core), and Witch Elves to clean up what was left after my Corsairs went around beating stuff up.
I'm into speed power and a challenge. Which is why I take the rist of using dire wolves in large numbers.
In small numbers, they are disposable and just meant to draw fire and make raids, without you expecting to do much. In large numbers they can be devistating if you use them right. I like medium numbers, because then I have them to raid and slaughter, without worrying they all die, yet using tactics to keep them alive (and tactics aren't just what you do, it's the mental games you play with your enemy, like in chess), and having something to back them up.
Exactly what I planned on doing with Dark Elves, but a bit more safe, and faster.
Ghouls are one of the most powerful units available to VCs, and are super under-rated because of their low leadership. I wish Army of Sylvania had them, and it's my only regret.
Ghouls have quite a few purposes. They can operate outside the range of the general (as they can march normally since they are alive). They are one of the hardest skirmishers out there, so great for picking off weaker units, and with fear and good luck, they can cause some major damage on even decent size units. Most importantly, as they are the ONLY thing we really have for this they are a very hardcore, CHEAP, screen from shooting. Putting them in front of our units as you march across the field keeps your blocks from hurting to normal missle fire, and with their high toughness, they really soak up things like crossbows and handguns a lot better then other units.
Right on, Kiwi. When I field ghouls, my army functions better, always. I'd suggest that any new player at least buy two or three blisters and experiment with them. I'd offer you a money back guarantee but I don't think GW would go for it.Originally Posted by OmnipotentKiwi
Indeed. I really can't stress how under-rated these guys.Originally Posted by DavidVC04
And, I forgot the most important part. They can FLEE as a charge reaction. That's a HUGE deal. It's something that every good (living) general uses to draw people into combat on their own grounds. It's the only way VCs can do it as well. Without them, you're pretty much stuck on just taking the charges, as their movement is poor (except against dwarves), unless you suppliment yourself with magic.
Yeah magic is the way to control combat and make sure you charge where you like for VC. I have never used ghouls before, even before I became attached to Sylvanians . I suppose I would now if I used normal VC, but I can't get away from the Sylvanians.
You should submit a Sylvanian addendum to the VC tactica. It's the one thing lacking there. I'll admit that it's for selfish reasons as I'm assembling models to represent a Sylvanian force, but it'd help everyone new to that particular list.Originally Posted by strewart
