Well, i was playing a team battle yesterday, and me and my partner where really expecting to loose big time, but we where going to play for fun anyways. (are attitude was partially b/c whe where playing the most seasoned of our group, and this is my partners first game, and, as i saw in that game, he has the WORST luck i have ever seen.) but anyways, we really didnt kill anything exept for my Blood Dragon, him and his few knights he got to the enemy line with (the knights didnt do anything) killed around 850 points... first i killed the more expesive dwarf lord in a challenge. then won combat and made his big warrior unit run, caught them, and chased them of the side of the table, came back on, killed a goblin hewer, killed a unit of thunderers. by then he was the only thing we had left on the table, and i tried to run him twords the HE spearmen but he got 2 bolts in the face. but other than that, he did AWOSOME and im definitly bulding a BD army (i havent decided what blood line yet, just testing out a few.)
who here shares my thoughts...?
Yep, Blood Dragons are combat monsters especially effective at killing characters. Hell, BD Thralls have been known to decapitate Chaos Lords and Saurus Oldbloods.
Still, I'd consider at least Strigoi and Von Carstein as options.
Strigoi are almost as insane in close combat as Blood Dragons. They are better wizards, and all Vampires get a free Ward and Hatred. The no equipment restriction doesn't hurt THAT much seeing that they have usable enough Bloodline powers. Regeneration, anyone? Want extra Wounds? How 'bout a Vampire practically armed with two Swords of Might? All are possible with Strigoi.
Von Carsteins have less focus in the über-character department. Overall, if Strigoi and Blood Dragons are Chaos, Von Carsteins are Empire. They are the leaders who do their stuff by enhancing the army, not by being one all by themselves. (With the exception of the vampire variant of the Jaguar Saurus of Death, the Thrall with Wolf Form, Flayed Hauberk and a Greatsword.)
Von Carsteins, like Strigoi and Lahmians, are passable Wizards as well.
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD
The problem I see with blood dragons is they are combat monsters, but thats it. They will kill like crazy and most likely never die, but all vampires are tough as hell and kill pretty well when used properly.
Blood Dragons are good, in the end it comes down to what you want your characters to do and what theme you want. Von Carstein's are the good all rounders.
why is this topic here? why didnt you pos tin the pinned bloodlines topic.
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.
