is the sylvanian militia worth the extra two points more than the levy, im keen to get started on a sylvanian army and im not sure. What do people use/ prefer?

I think levy are far more worth it. Neither are going to kill much if anything, they both have the same function of holding units as long as possible while other things flank and best of all (for the Sylvanians) they both have the same armour. Use hand weapon, shield and light armour and your levy can get 4+ saves just like the militia so why pay extra points for things that aren't likely to kill any more?

Yep, in Sylvania, pretty much the only reason to use Skellies is that they can be bowmen.
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
    Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
    Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD

    Technically crossbows. I'm too pedantic...

So on the topic of them.. Don't bother paying the points for crosbowmen because they will be too far away to hit anything, they are useful if raised from gravemarkers because they are close. Then you can shoot and hit sometimes, nasty stuff at close range. Wow I've said that a lot. lol

oh, while on the topic of sylvania, another question, if i upgrade my grave guard to drakenhof guard, do they still get the killing blow ability, because i assumed they didnt, but ive seen somewhere that they still do? you can never be so sure though.
