i'd like to include a thrall or 2 with armour in my army, (sylvania), but the von carstein models dont have any modelled on them. 1. does any1 have any suggestsions or anything that can help me.
well , you could just use the models how they are or maybe use bllod dragons to represent it or if you are a hardcore modeller ( by the sounds of this post you are ) just model some armour onto them
FOr my Carstein thrall with a great weapon, I'm using the undead vampire with a halberd from the Mordheim range. Otherwise, I'd suggest just picking up any armored model you like and painting it in whatever undead theme you've worked up. Or you could do a headswap. Take a carstein head and pin it to an armored body you like.
Dark elf armoured torso, if you are building one from scratch it works well. The DE executioner champion also makes a sweet armoured vampire, but yeah pretty much any armoured model with a bit of conversion work (new head) and the right colour scheme makes a good vamp, and certainly better then the GW ones...
thanks, i might try my hand at reheading the empire greatsword champion...any suggestions for what the flayed hauberk should look lil\ke?
Absolutely no idea... It does say in the description the design make it look like a flayed body, and it is dark red, so I would just use plate armour (or whatever the model has) and if you are good with GS maybe add a bit of detail, otherwise just paint it dark red. I never noticed that bit in the description before, now I know the colour it might help me a bit in making my last vampire...
yeah i should have put this in the last post, my bad but in peoples opinion, would the blood dragon dude with the great weapon in two hands look too blood dragony with a new head. i imagine the flayed hauberk to look kinda funky, but is the armour too dragony. if that makes sense......at all.
I've thought about them too, and I think they doo look a bit too much like blood dragons to work well... Even with head swaps and stuff, maybe they won't be soo blood dragon but they certainly won't be Carstein. Maybe the right colour scheme will make it look close enough, I'm not so sure though...
Its ironic that the only model I can't really picture as a vampire is a vampire model from another bloodline... lol.
I never liked the BD models anyway, I would suggest another armies minis. I like to use high elves (because they look good) or chaos (alittle bulky for Von Carstein). As said above it might be worth looking at the Mordheim range.

Nice model, one of those big DE swords in his hand to replace the pidly thing he came with and make him look like he has a nice great weapon. The only problem is due to the size of the cloak he is a b*tch to rank up, i have to have models right on the edge of their bases to go next to him...
