O.K, I have decided to play Von Carstein and want to get some archers in my list to make me be able to get a few shots off as i advance my army. I went online and there are no VC skeleton archers. But i did find some bows in the Tomb King troop box. Is it worth it to buy the Tomb King set, or should i just buy the VC skeletons and order the $5 sprue of Tomb Kings bows for a total of $35?
Sorry dude but VC canĀ“t have archers.. or atleast i canĀ“t find them in the rule book..
You can have skelies with cross bows using the Sylvanian Army from SOC campaign. I suggest picking up an Empire box with some X-Bows and combining that with a box of Skelies. They look good when converted.
Other than that, there's no VC's with X-Bows.
Yup, WCU is correct. When you get an army that causes fear in its entireity you do without a few other things, like warmachines and archers.
Unless you do as WCU suggests, which is go Sylvanian. It's a popular army list and available on the GW site if you look for Storm of Chaos info. The army list in the back of the VC codex allowing archers isn't legal if that's what you're thinking of.
Yeah that one in the back I think is what is being referred to, and as you say it isn't legal.
Dark Elves work just as well as Empire guys to get crossbowmen for the Sylvanians.
o.k. but i can use the storm of Chaos army list?
Yep, it is completely tournament legal.
Great thanks, and i cant use Necromancers in the Slvanian list right? Or regular Skellies and Zombies....just the militia and levy? And how many crossbowmen can i get out of a Empire of Dark Elf box?

Check out the Sylvanian rules here.
Out of respect for copyright, LO asks that we not get too specific about rules. Besides answers will just lead to more questions, so this should do the trick for you. Just tool around the SoC site until you find the lists--they're in the book section, at least on the US site.
You won't need necromancers, and the list gives you plenty of magic defense. I still haven't played it but from everythng you here (just ask Strewart) it's rock solid.
The only difference is weapons. Check the full rules on the link given and you'll get most of the answers.
As for number of crossbows, however many models you get in the box. You get 16 dark elves so 16 crossbow arms, there are seperate crossbows not attached to arms if you want to play around with them.. Across a models back or something, so probably at least 20. Not sure about empire.
Grave markers easily make up for necromancers, they don't miscast, and bound items certainly help. (pretty much essential) Earthbind and the few dispel dice you have allow you to whether most opponents magic phases without being hurt too much.
