Welcome to Librarium Online!
i really dont like the black knights model that GW provides us with
on the other hand i REALLY like the cold ones..
so i thought of making my black knights with cold ones and skeletons(from the sprues) with spears(act like lances) on their back..
how do this sound to you?
just wanted to here your oppinions before i bought the cold ones
I think it's a good idea...
my favourite games shop is going to organize a contest of modified cold ones: i was thinking about making a vampire lord mounted on a zombie cold one. :p
The Thousand Sons and The Ultramarines face eachother on opposite sides of a battlefield.
Bob: Move the troops into those strategic positions to face the chaos scum!
Magnus: *Eyes glow* You want to move the troops into the minefield.
Bob: *Turns to Sergeant* No, move them into the minefield instead.

It'd be a cool conversion, but it seems like you'd want a lizard/dark elf theme all the way around, not just for the knights. The Cursed Company has a Saurus skeleton which is pretty cool, but as they're metal, buying 20 of those would prove much costlier than a normal regiment.
Personally, I like the BK models, but they're fragile. Gluing the shields on the arms, swords across their backs, and arms with lances to their side. Ugh, I've had to repair those too many times, and get really antsy when people decide they need to handle them.
Hmm...strayed off topic a wee bit didn't I?
The problem with the black knight models is they are damn expensive...
I would be converting them from something else too, and cold ones seem like a good choice since I already have a DE theme so yeah it would probably work well. Pretty much anything would.
Bretonnian knights aren't too expensive and work well too if you don't want the lizard theme..
I agree- too expensive and prety outdated looking like you guys have said. I found the old plastic bretonian knights to work well.(from the 5th edition boxed game that I ended up with when i was younger :/)
It took a bit of cutting with a dremel tool and some conversion work but i liked the results. I'm glad i finally found a way to use them so they didn't go to waste.
