Since its rumored that the Dwarves(1st fantasy army of this edition) is being rereleased soon, they will probably start rereleasing all the older army books(we are somewhere between 2nd-4th in this edition). I always thought our army was a balanced one and that most of my problems with the list were minor things. What would you like to see when we get our new army book eventually?
I personally would like
Slightly improved Zombie Dragon
Different unit choices for different bloodlines
Vampires to not be "Undead"
How about everyone else?
I agree Vampires shouldn't be undead. I'd like to Troop improvements in the way of combat.
I would like to see the back of the book lists integrated into the main rules. I usually take 2 units of Ogres in my Lahmian army, it would be kind of nice if I could also take a bruiser to lead them.

Since the undead seem to rely so much on characters, (at least they did before this last codex came out.) I believe that there needs to be a way to take more than a handful of models that can do ANYTHING in combat. yes, wights do, but I miss the ability of having a wight lead each zombie and skeleton unit.
Heck ya. As is it's not really worth the points.Originally Posted by TheMusicOfCreationThe back of the book gives you that. Though it should no longer be a "if your opponant consents to it" thing but more of an alternative list.Originally Posted by TheMusicOfCreationI would hate that... Though I wouldn't mind getting rid of the wounded if you lose combat part, there are a lot of bonus' you get from being undead. Not to mention the fact that a vampire is the classic example of being undead.Originally Posted by TheMusicOfCreation
We need archers or some form of long range weaponry. Maybe skellies with higher BS and lower ed other stats to make up for it. That would be nice.
Vampires shouldn't crumble, but hell yes they are undead! They are the epitome of undeadness.
Maybe necromancers should be alive?
A slightly bigger distinction between the bloodlines would be cool, maybe unique lists for them that are balanced?
About making the choices better in combat.. If they did that they would have to severely weaken our magic, imagine spitting out as many zombies as you do now exept knowing that they wouldn't simply sit there and wait for reinforcements, but they could also fight and win? It would be so overpowered. And I think the magic and being able to spit units out everywhere is a good and unique thing, so I'd prefer weaker units but more magic..
I think a way to have all vampire armies (no necros) without getting screwed over in the magic phase and besides Sylvanians would be cool. Maybe more bound items, or units being able to take bound items or something?
I didn't mean that Vampires wouldn't be undead, but that they wouldn't be "Undead" as in suffer wounds from CR. Also, I think it would fit in well with Vampire Lords if they got some sort of combat escape mechanism. Like maybe the ability to leave a combat thats gone south similar to the High Elves' Armour of Stars, they could call it something like "Oh ****, Hes getting away". I mean what self respecting millenia old Vampire doesn't have some sort of contingency plan that makes sure he gets away to plan his revenge. An ancient Vampires "existence" is pretty much his number 1 priority.
Well, yes I have to agree there. I know a Necrarch would avoid combat and a Lahmian could easily just walk away, being faster than just about anything else, and a Von Carstein would leave if it was necessary... Though a Blood Dragon wouldn't, they want to kill and battle as much as they can, so they would stay put, and a Strigoi would... well I don't know what they would do...Originally Posted by TheMusicOfCreation
Maybe The unit should take a leadership test to leave combat... yeah that should work. If they pass they can leave and if they fail they must stay. But a Blood Dragon would never leave combat... it's not not their thing.
It could be a bloodline power(available to nonBloodDragons) where the Vampire leaves the combat but the unit stays to hold the enemy while the Vampire escapes. Maybe the Vampire would have to be same size as the rest of the unit and the unit must be at least US5. Than you would roll a scatter and artillery dice to determine where the vampire ended up outside of the melee, with a misfire result meaning that the vampire failed to escape.
The models : especially the vampires
More distinctive differences between the bloodlines. Blood dragon : equipped well against chars, von carestian: support troops, Strigoi: rank and file killer, Lahmian: strike before they can strike.
And, definetely more magic weapons, since the ones we have now are complete crap and i never take them.
Same with armour. And the thign where vampires don't lose wounds for crumbling... I want my vamp to charge into a squad with a winged nightmare and survive!
