I've been tossing around an idea that would include a DoW choice in my Army of Sylvania that would be Counts As. But, before I venture down that road I need to know something. Can Army of Sylvania include Dogs of War/allies?
I thought that unless it was specifically stated that an army cannot take DoW/allies, that it could.
For example, Brets specifically states they cannot take Dogs of War. But, the Army of Sylvania list doesn't do that. Under the Rare slot it says "0-1 Drakenhof Templars (Black Knights) and Banshees" but it doesn't mention Dogs of War at all. I figure that being a Sylvanian army they would be more apt to use certain Dogs of War.
Does anyone know what the rule is for this? What about an official ruling?
hm, I can't produce any page refs, as I'm at work now, but I do believe reading that AoS can't take DoW, and not listing it as a choice in the army list is an indicator of this. In the regular VC book, this is an option. Also, I don't think DoW show up in Army Builder either...
I checked in Army Builder prior to posting but didn't see it in there. However, Army Builder doesn't mean it is legal so thought I'd check in with the kind people here.Originally Posted by CryoGenFX
It is allowed for standard VC though, unless I'm mistaken, right?
It is allowed for normal VC, but it isn't allowed for AoS. It does need to actually say that DoW are allowed before you can take them, the list shows exactly what you can take. No more, no less.
For valiation, head forward a few pages in the SoC book to 92 and the Skaven Eshin list. It actually lists Dogs of War as a choice. If Sylvanians were allowed to take them, then they would have the choice there too.
A dark emissary would really make my Sylvanian list kick. <_<
Much obliged although the SoC book has an older AoS list and the AoS list on the GW site is correct and up to date so that is what I looked at. Yeah them or some of the Empire DoW types would be really good.Originally Posted by strewart
